?PROPOSAL PART 7 Time Schedule/Time Line The estimated time to undertake the whole research study will be based on the academic calendar needed to befollowed by the school. This is because the proposed research study is an academic study. Given an estimated timeframe of 4 months, below is how the whole research is proposed to be scheduled. This will immediately be followed with the drafting of chapter 1, which will have the preparation of research question, formation of aims and objectives, and the outline of the significance of the study in some of the highlighted areas. During the last week of drafting of the chapter one, the researcher will begin collecting secondary materials needed to undertake the literature review. The selection will be based on the research questions and specific objectives. The actual drafting of the literature review, which is the chapter two of the study, will take place within a period of three weeks. While drafting the literature review, the researcher will meet resource persons to share ideas. This will then be followed with the seeking of formal consent from the targeted setting for the study. As soon as the permission is granted, the researcher will go on using one week to form the sample size and conduct the actual collection of primary data in three weeks. Thereafter, two weeks will be dedicated to putting the data collection into writing and then another two weeks will be used to draft the results and analysis. The conclusion and summary shall take one week to draft while the marking of the whole draft will take place in the very week that the conclusion is written. The final week will be dedicated to making corrections and reviewing the entire project report. Resources Needed Computers and Tablet PCs: The researcher will make use of computers and tablet PCs for the typing and researching aspect of the project. The tablet PC is particularly necessary so that the researcher can be on the go with whatever data that he comes across, where the computer may not be readily available or accessible. In effect, the tablet PC would allow for portability. Internet Access: The researcher will need constant access to internet for undertaking online research. Such online researches are going to be necessary for the completion of the proposed research since the researcher will be making use of both qualitative and quantitative research approaches and will, therefore, come to a stage where secondary data derived from the internet will be of much relevance. Statistical Software: Since aspects of the research may be quantitative, it is proposed that the need to use statistical software may emerge. Some of these statistical programs may include Microsoft Excel and SPSS. Interview Guide: The researcher shall prepare an exclusive interview guide, with which data shall be collected from members of the sample group. It has already been explained that members in the sample size are going to be made up of students in lower grades and so the best form of data collection instrument to use on them is one that will not make them read and produce written responses. Tape Recorders: In the course of the interview, it will be necessary and important that the researcher records the interactions that will go on between the researcher and the respondents. Because of this, the researcher will have the need of a tape recorder to do the recording and later transcribe the results. E-Coli Meter: the E-Coli meter is going to be an important resource in undertaking the research. This is because the researcher will use it to measure the percentage of e-coli on the fingers of students before and after the intervention campaign. In the absence of this, the researcher would have to wait for a very long time to get results from the intervention that would be measured by records of reported sicknesses involving hand-to-mouth infections. Jotter: A paper jotter will be needed for jotting down important notes in the course of undertaking the research. Personnel Students: The researcher will need colleague students to serve as feedback personnel. These students will act as critics for each stage of the chapter that the researcher writes so that the researcher will be offered the opportunity to reflect on what he has written and make necessary corrections. There shall, therefore, be an informal conference with the students at the end of each chapter of the research. The estimated number of students needed will be four (4). Teachers: The researcher shall also rely on his teachers for feedback, especially his supervisor. These teachers will offer academic advice on the presentation and formatting of the entire research project. They shall also offer useful inputs when it comes to the pre-data collection stage as captured in the schedule grid. This means that the input of the teachers will be sought on the type of data to collect and the approach to adapt to the collection of those data. Health Professionals: The researcher shall seek professional advice on hand-to-mouth transmission from health professionals. Some of these professionals are most likely to be nurses who work for the selected school. These nurses will not be directly involved in the data collection exercise. This means that they will not be treated as respondents. Rather, when it comes to the technical aspects of the research, such as the measurement of the presence of e-coli on the hands of respondents, the professional inputs of the health professionals will be sought. Budget The estimated amount of money needed to undertake the proposed research is $600. Out of this, the distribution of funds is detailed below. Transportation: The researcher envisions that there will be a lot of journeys made to and from the research field, which is the designated school for undertaking the study. Moreover, the researcher will be traveling to all other places where resource personnel will be met. The researcher will also be traveling to the library on a number of occasions to conduct secondary research. More to this, the researcher will be traveling to and from his supervisor to vet the progress of the research report and hold necessary discussions with the supervisor. It is, therefore, estimated that for the period of 16 weeks, a total of $50 will be spent on transportation by the researcher. Stationery: The researcher will need a couple of stationery to undertake the printing of the research report at various phases or levels of the writing. For each time that a chapter is presented to the supervisor and there are corrections, new stationery has to be used for re-printing. All of these will bring about a substantial amount of stationery cost upon the researcher. Subsequently, the researcher budgets that an amount of $20 shall be spent on stationery. Printing: The researcher budgets undertake several printing tasks; most commonly, the printing of draft chapters and the final and revised chapters of the research project. This budgets lead to the buying of toner and ink cartridges. The researcher estimates that the total cost of printing to be undertaken, including the cost of printing of the interview guide, will cost an amount of $100. Technical: Technical as used here refers to payments that will be done for utilities. This also includes internet bills and the use of pay-per-view websites. It is common knowledge that the era of the research will keep the researcher awake in most on the days. Therefore, utilities such as electricity, water and telephones are expected to rise over the 16 week period. This is estimated to incur an extra cost of $30 Honorarium: Because of the need to involve resource personnel, the researcher will make special arrangements to recognize the efforts and inputs of these people by giving out voluntary allowances in the forms of honorarium. It is estimated that these will cost a total of $300 by the close of the research. Equipment: As indicated, the researcher will undertake a brief scientific research in measuring the quantity of e-coli on the fingers of respondents, before and after the intervention. The purchase of this equipment is estimated to cost $100.
