The paper "Predicting Health Professionals Teaching Commitment in a Private Hospital’s Training Program" is a great example of a research proposal on health sciences and medicine.Private hospitals are primarily business organizations that deliver particular kinds of service for a fee. Investments are provided by stockholders and other patrons who also expect returns of their investments in a specific period of time. Continuity of a hospital’s success of gaining profit, or at least of customers’ patronage, depends significantly on the competence of the hospital’s human resource, the nurses, doctors, and staff that are in the forefront of providing medical care to the hospital’s patients.

Training of budding healthcare professionals cannot do without on-the-job exposure. Although the theoretical background provided by medical school training is fundamental, the ability to properly use this knowledge on actual patients can only be acquired through internship and hospital training. Individuals fresh from medical, nursing and allied medical schools thus look for the best training programs in order to hone their craft. Thus, concentrating on improving staff training not only improves the medical care currently provided by the hospital but also ensures the continuity of the hospital’s optimal service by luring the most promising recruits to establish their careers in the hospital.

In effect, hospitals depend on senior professionals, not only to provide healthcare, but also to facilitate the hospital’s training program. In effect, the viability of a private hospital as a business organization depends highly on the quality of commitment of these senior professionals to become clinical teachers. Specialists, like all teachers in educational institutions, must devote time and expertise to fulfill the school’s teaching goals and, in the case of residency training, implement its declared training program.

However, both as practitioners and presumably as teachers, healthcare professionals are largely independent in the conduct of their business based on the structure of the professional organization which inherently gives them considerable control over their own work due to their set skills and knowledge. Doctors, for example, cannot be told upon how to treat or how to train, because within the hospital they are already the ones regarded as experts. With the lack of controlling body looking over the conduct of professionals, identifying the work-related factors that influence the consultants’ commitment to teaching is an important step in improving the quality of the hospital’s training program, quality of care and recruitment strategy.

Purpose of research As mentioned above, senior professionals are depended upon by their hospitals of affiliation not only to provide healthcare to their patients but to train the incoming breed of healthcare professionals. Because these seniors are themselves primarily trained to be healthcare providers, clinical teaching becomes an added burden, especially for those who do not really have a passion for teaching. The hospital should thus put in place encouraging and limit the negative work-related factors that influence the commitment of senior professionals to teach in the hospital’s training program, especially with the absence of controlling body that can oversee these experts’ conduct of their business.

Identification of these factors can guide the formulation of strategies that can improve the program. Aspects of the study The study will focus on fulfilling the following objectives in order to answer the research question. The general objective of this study will be to determine the work-related factors perceived to influence the senior professionals’ commitment to the training program of a private hospital. Specifically, it will aim to: 1. Determine whether the reputation of a hospital’s training program is a factor for graduating medical, nursing or allied medical students in deciding which hospital to enter to for internship. 2. Assess the current commitment of the senior professionals to the training program of the hospital. 3. Identify which of the work-related factors predict the commitment to teach in the residency training program of the hospital. OutlineI. Introduction A.

Aside from medical care, hospitals also aim to establish their training programs not only to ensure continuity of staff competency but also to recruit younger professionals into the hospital. B. A private hospital is a professional organization where specialists have considerable control over their activity. C. Since senior professionals are primary healthcare providers, teaching is an additional responsibility that needs to be encouraged in the absence of mandate needed to enforce it. II. Body A.
