Extract of sample "Prevention of Common Chronic Diseases"

The paper "Prevention of Common Chronic Diseases" is a wonderful example of an assignment on health sciences and medicine. One of the limitations of the vital statistics registry data is the wide variation of the data in context to the reference periods, the terms under which the data was collected, and the time period for which the data is available. Another limitation on using vital statistics arises from the various means used to tabulate and generate the data. Some of the data were obtained through sampling while others were through complete analysis (Saydah et al., 2004). Researchers can compensate for the limitations by assessing the relevance and contextual application of the data before using it.

It was also important that researchers consider the impact of the limitations and fill in for these effects. Vital statistics are very useful in health planning as they give insight into the leading causes of fetal deaths, live deaths, and other key segments of the health sector. This statistical information is one that provides individuals with legal documents by which their existence is recognized. This enables planning for the health services and for the health needs of a population all for the sake of high health standards.

The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System reveals the top three risk factors for diseases as age, lifestyle, and family history. With regards to age, as people age, they are more gullible to attacks from various diseases, especially because the will to take care of their health dies down (Brownson et al., 2004).
