Assessing the two characters, one cannot fail to judge Jack as a timid, lazy man and a liar too. He lies to Mariana about the work he does, as an actor and songster, while in the real sense, he hates work and stays home most of the time. On the other hand, Mariana appears to be intelligent judging from her interaction with Jack. She is hard working because she got a job, unlike Jack.

The driver’s license requested by Mariana is significant as it would help her trace jack later. On the other hand, if Jack had the license and gave it out, he would be unable to drive. The insurance invokes the idea that Mariana is pushing for compensation for the damage Jack had done to her car. Jack lies about all the details. He even fakes his phone number resisting the temptation of giving it out. Jack then takes Mariana’s phone number for the reason of love as it appears.
