TRANSFORMATIVE LEADERSHIP & NURSING WORKPLACE IMPROVEMENT IN SAUDI ARABIA Student’s Name Course Professor’s Name University City Transformative Leadership & Nursing Workplace Improvement in Saudi Arabia Aims The purpose of the research project is the identification of the transformative leadership in the nursing and elaborating on improvement in their working place conditions in Saudi Arabia. The paper seeks to acknowledge the role of the health professionals in governance, leadership, and clinical education while evaluating the continuous quality improvement. Another area of approach is the safety of patients that is covered by the quality of health care offered in health centers [App121]. The registered nurses are supposed to have all the accreditations and standards set by the nursing board in order to accomplish their duties in the Saudi Arabian health sector. This helps in ensuring they meet all the required qualities relating the nursing transformation and enhancing their working place through understanding and caring for one another [Mar13]. This is evaluated through analysis of the professional responsibility that enables a nurse to become a member of the inter-professional team. Therefore, the paper focuses on the organizational culture and some of the management changes that are required at global aspects with the aim of changing the healthcare. The impacts of health care policies at the local and global approach are essential in addressing the transformative leadership in nursing and improving their workplace focusing on Saudi Arabia. Settings The study projects focus Saudi Arabian health sectors whereby the nursing profession is being addressed regarding their roles in supporting transformation in leadership to improve workplaces. The approach is set to identify some of the required standards that are supposed to be initiated by the nursing body board in streamlining healthcare sector and code of ethics [Cla15]. The nursing principles are essential in influencing the leadership in the health sector and hence provision of transformed leadership [Reg13]. Another major concern is the improvement in the quality and safety of patients in health centers. Nurses, they have a major role to play to ensure patients are safe and get high-quality health care. The approach by having good management, nurses is supposed to show their professionalism through improving their workplace relationship with one another and with patients. This helps in providing a good environment for working together, delegation of duties and respecting one another while at work [Cla15]. Therefore, these factors contribute to the achievement of the main goal of high-quality services to patients, safeguarding clinical equipment and improving the health care services. Background and Literature Review In nursing, time management and organizing skills are introduced and given priority as they are essential in the health sector. They have a great impact in ensuring nurses are giving prioritized and organized services to the patient. They are essential in the determination of the appropriate treatment procedure and giving high-quality services to the patients [McC14]. The skills have a great impact to handling presented health case and hence giving appropriate attention to the patient for observation [Sta12]. In most of the training curriculum, these skills are emphasized as they help in ensuring all the critical services are given priority and undertaken according to the set framework. Some of the services require more attention and hence given more time with respect to close examination. Nurses have the role of ensuring these services are provided irrespective of the numbers of the available nurses and hence calling for organization skills [Mar13]. Therefore, it is important to have high skills in time management and organizing available work to ensure all patients are given high services and appropriate attention they require. The healthcare policy address factors affecting and influencing health care with the aim of improving health services delivery. The groups either political action committees and special interest groups ensure nurses maintain their efficiency in service delivery through the development of appropriate policies that guides them [Cyn13]. The legislative process ensures these bodies maintain their mandate in influencing healthcare sector. Therefore, the stakeholders that involve nursing, patients, and other health care personnel depends on the policies that are put in place especially that positively influence health sector. There is two nature used in ensuring organization and time management are achieved. Apart from the courses being offered, a nurse is supposed to reflect their working condition from at home and in the places of work. The emphasis is ensuring the services being offered to meet the set time frame and organization of the schedule framework and duties assigned [Reg13]. At home settings that are away from job setting, it is essential to think and to consider the basics of the assigned shifts. It is important to plan for the typical day assignment and considering some of the activities required to be undertaken [Jas13]. Planning oneself helps regarding the activities required to undertake help in managing time. Some of these activities are obvious depending on specific department and hence it is appropriate to take a rough idea of what is expected during a shift time. The nature of the activities that a nurse should take a rough idea while at home is common activities expected of him or her while at shift time. They include the hours of shift and dividing according to the patient care expected during the period [Reg13]. The schedule includes patients medication such as when ac or PC medication are supposed to be given, time of HS meds, the appropriate time for a patient to go for a test, therapy, time of MDs to make their rounds, the usual time for discharges and admitting new patients and visiting hours. All these activities are supposed to be well framed and organized according to the shift schedule and time of the shift [McC14]. Therefore, having all these outlines well organized, it prepares a nurse to have the appropriate mind set in undertaking the position according to the department or position they are scheduled. Improvement Proposed The research study seeks to explore in transformative leadership that contribute to improving the nursing workplace in Saudi Arabia. The main objective is to ensure proper working conditions that would enhance high-quality services to the safety of patients’ health care [Mar13]. The approach to the leadership is the essential factor and hence requiring transformation to address the nurses’ issues. The board of the nurses is also important in ensuring the code of ethics and nursing principles are maintained [Reg13]. The nursing board has the role of registering qualified nurses who are expected to contribute in the transformational role, especially in Saudi Arabia. Methods The study seeks to approach to address the nursing leadership factors and hence all the information required are collected from healthcare institutions records, nurses interview, and direct observation. The research uses first-hand information and hence considering the direct interview with nurses and patients. The methods of outsourcing information regarding the working place condition would be covered in the interview form. This will address the patients’ nurses’ relationship, nursing leadership and working condition. Data collection would come from nursing records and achieves [Sta12]. Direct observation consists of the surrounding factors such as availability of required health care equipment, their condition and how they would increase quality and performance. Ethical Issues During the research, the participating nurses’ details would not be used for anonymity, and hence, their response would not be used against them. This would help in protecting them from adverse effects that can be directed to those contributes to the study. Selecting the nurses in random would be helpful in ensuring no biases in the information being outsourced. The nurses would not be required to discuss with their colleagues regarding the research questions presented. Therefore, being a direct interview would help in understanding personal view on leadership and working condition and relating to their emotions and facial expression. The patients data retrieved from the healthcare achieves would be solely be used in research study whereby only vital information would be recorded [McC14]. Personal details will be avoided and hence naming patients in numbers for identification rather than by their names. During the study, all the ethical practices will be exercised and protection of the information collected for research only. Techniques Selected to Assess Project Outcomes The techniques that would be applied in the research project to assess and ensure effectiveness healthcare institutions authority have full information of the study. This would help in getting their supports such as having access to patients’ records. Other instruments consist of direct observation that exists between the leadership and nursing body. This would be expressed through observing the working condition, environmental conditions, nature of the equipment used and response from the patients. In order to ensure the data collected meets high quality, all the information would be retrieved from the health center records. It would ensure all the information is correct as the forms would be elected randomly. Discussion Health care is a complex discipline that requires policies and efforts to organize, sustain activities and helping nursing professionalism. In joining professional nursing organization especially in Saudi Arabia, certain healthcare policies are essential in enhancing individual capacity and advocacy efforts. Furthermore, having a professional organization Association in nursing capacity, it helps in effective strategizing especially in decision making and meeting standards perspectives in health policies [Jas13]. Transformational leadership process in the political action committees and special interest groups are essential in upholding different associations such as nursing field hence influencing their functioning. These bodies have impacts on the healthcare outcomes through definition of health policies in monitoring and offering association members with knowledge about health policy [Cla15]. Therefore, they provide with reliable information especially on the health care policies that are used in policy making and decision making in the nursing field and entire health sector. Nursing Workplace It is common in the nursing fraternity and especially for new nurses to organize and prioritize their services to the patients care in shifts. It does not matter the nature of the personal setting but the most important is ensuring successful completion of the task being assigned and meeting quality services under nursing principles [App121]. According to the nursing principles and rules of prioritization, it is important to expect the unexpected. It helps in making nurses alert all the time and ready to provide health care services to the patient. This depends on the condition of working place and how the nurses are equipped with the required tool for working [McC14]. Therefore, it helps in having another plan apart from the normal schedule and shifts provided. In the case of the emergency, it is advisable to take the second plan in solving the case presented. In prioritizing health care, nurses are mandated to ensure patient cares are given more priority and hence working toward improving their condition regardless of the personal interests [Reg13]. Organizing and planning a scheduling framework helps in ensuring all the stakeholders are involved in giving appropriate services at a time as designed. It also ensures every nurse is entrusted in offering health care to patient’s hence making health care accessible to all patients conveniently. On the other approach, it is important to have a look at the assignment and schedule to ensure compatibility of the schedule framework depending on specialization and places or work designed and assigned. Some of the issues to consider are specific time of the events, patients who requires specific attention, number of the new patients from previous shift, their diagnosis and treatment that requires present attention. Furthermore, understanding whether the scheduling of the activities should be undertaken and whether delegated duties require help or LPN depending on condition [Cyn13]. Therefore, making a rounds and quick assessment of the patient helps in getting additional information required in setting the working schedule during the time of shift. During planning working schedule during the shift, it is important to ensure also meals break and other break times are also set. They help in improving personal wellbeing, morale and even ability of providing quality health care to patients. Transformative Leadership and Impact in Health Care Political action committees and leadership organization are essential in development and organization of the professionalism accredited bodies. Their function is enhancing positive legislative factors and contributing toward the wellbeing of the healthcare sector. The impacts in healthcare especially in the nursing practice are observed through policies development and using the policies in making a concrete decision affecting health sector [Jas13]. Therefore, legislative factors from political action committees and special interest groups influences healthcare in development and raising standards in policy making. Political action committees involve labor union and other legal bodies that contribute toward welfare of the nursing. It is involved organizing and solving issues that are related to nursing professionalism. They provide solutions to all the political factors that surround health care inform resource mobilization, addressing common interest of the nurses in leadership and advising on the policies affecting the sector [Cla15]. On the other hand, special interest group is organized in terms of specification area or field of specialization, knowledge and technological knowhow. The nursing in these organized groups are in a position of addressing factors affecting their field and hence coming up with a common interest to solve their challenges. Therefore, they develop appropriate measures and policies that help in guiding them in achieving the health sector goals and objectives. Registered nurses have specific duties to undertake especially while undertaking health care issues in meeting standards. Registered nurses as well as licensed practical nurse communicate significant changes that are supposed to be realized while undertaking patient’s health care. The common connection of prioritization and organization of the activities, nurses are supposed to engage in a consultative communication that would enhance positive feedback in improvement of the patients care. The organization that are undertaken from different levels such as labor union in political action committee and special interest groups are directed in improving condition of the all registered nurses and license practical nurses. It the issues surrounding nursing interests are efficiently undertaken, then the patients care are also addressed through prioritizing their interest as well organization of treatment and care services. To enable appropriate prioritization and organization while undertaking patient care, all registered nurses and licensed practical nurses are supposed to document essential client’s record. Patient’s issues are complicated and for appropriate history of the patient’s information, stored record plays a major role in giving appropriate information regarding treatment. Therefore, nurses are supposed to ensure this information is properly recorded and store according to the training [Sta12]. The use of the electronic devices and systems has made recording easier for nurses. Electronic health recording system has been extensively used in different hospitals and therefore proven as the most appropriate system in patients’ health information storage. The nurses are supposed to have knowledge in using these systems and electronic devices to cope with the technological improvement in health sector [Cla15]. Furthermore, registered nurse and licensed practical nurses seems as patient’s advocates especially in the health maintenance and clinical care. In most cases, nurses are close to the patients taking daily care and close examination and hence understand more information concerning the patient [Jas13]. Having all these information, nurses are able to address some of the patients concerns and ensuring they are fully met. Therefore, every nurse has to consider patients personal attention while planning about their duties to ensure they meet full satisfaction. The nature of the nursing prioritization and organization should also be legal and compatible to the health sector policies. The registered nurses and licensed practical nurses are supposed to have knowledge and high understanding of the law that regulate nurses while on their duties. Having these understanding, nurses are also entitled to protect the patients through legal approach in ensuring they have received high quality health care [McC14]. The background of legal approach ensures to meet the customers need and giving them their entitled high quality services, ensuring they get medical care as entitled and hence prioritizing and organizing their schedule accordingly. The issues of discrimination of the patients are eliminated and hence getting equal chance in health care services. Registered nurses and licensed practical nurses have to consider working toward improving the condition of the health care. Priority and organizing themselves according to the nature of the work, programs and plan framework would help in undertaking their activities accordingly [Mar13]. The issues revolving the patient care are supposed to be addressed through a well-organized plan whereby the nurse on duty should give appropriate information to the incoming shift nurse. The mandates of the nurses are covered overseen through a legal framework whereby they are supposed to give correct information that would assist in improving health status of position. In the complexity of the health care, the nursing position is also complex and therefore recording system is essential in planning for appropriate programs and storage of the patient information. Application of technology helps in improving the work of nurses in programming shifts, priorities and organizing themselves in shifts to undertake their duties. Therefore, it is important to ensure they are fully equipped in undertaking their duties. Other supporting bodies are political action committees and special interest groups in achieving the nurses need in the labor unions and other health recognizing bodies. It is important to understand required criteria that are used in designing a framework that enhances organization and prioritization of the health care. The health care sector is a complex institution having different fields and disciplines [Sta12]. Furthermore, different fields of specialization are designed according to achievement and nursing training in various departments. Therefore, it is important to consider all these factors while coming up with a framework schedule in prioritization and organizing patient care. These measures are supposed to support the healthcare sector through regulating the principles and ethical approach of nurses in their work place. The policies are supposed to elaborate on their relationship to one another as workers and how they relate to patients. Another approach that nursing body should consider is development of the nursing unions that presents their demands. Like other workers, nurses are supposed to have their union that helps in addressing their issues and presenting them to board. Nursing board should be ultimate body that should ensure all the practicing nurses are registered under their board. This would help in undertaking assessment of the qualification after passing the examination set by the board. It would help in ensuring all the nurses are qualified to practice health care services. Leaders are the managers of the health centers and hence responsible to safeguard all the health supporting equipments.
