In this work, the relationship between African-Americans as a group and America’s economic, educational, political, and cultural institutions. According to Smith and Moore (2000), in sociology, the study of the African-Americans has been done from the point of social and economic inequality (1). Various studies have shown the African-Americans being disadvantaged in various positions such as in the labor market and in the education system. However, in the recent years, the interaction between the African-Americans and the whites has improved.

Institutions have put in place stringent measures that respect their values, attitudes, and experiences (3). This is as a move to address the cases of racial bias that were reported in the past. The educational system has been instrumental in enacting these changes by offering equal chances to all students regardless of the racial or ethnic background. The same has been done in the labor market where equal chances are accorded to each citizen to get a job. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was put in place to safeguard the rights of each citizen against such cases as racial prejudice in the educational or economic sector.
