Even real estate values can increase due to the high volume of highway and other transportation options access available to local citizens (Rodrigue, Comtois & Slack, 2006). Transportation-created infrastructure changes are not only limited to roadways, but also allow air transport companies to make money (Rodrigue et al). In this situation, it is again the need to move physical items from point to point which actually creates a business (the air transport company) which provides other companies the ability to conduct business faster and more efficient.

Goods and services production is another economic impact of transportation as different options by which to move raw materials can be reduced, allowing for more flexible and rapid product manufacturing at various companies. When a company requires a wide variety of raw materials to be shipped in from multiple vendors, they are going to be looking for accurate, cost-efficient, and rapid methods by which to move their needed products. The different types of transportation can give companies a competitive edge if the transport company is able to deliver products timely.

This would suggest that transportation creates stable industries which, in turn, can give back to local or regional economies by providing better quality of life for citizens and creating jobs. The very concept of the spatial organization represents certain geographic and economic realities in terms of areas of growth and opportunity. In a global spatial organization, there are certain fluctuating factors which create the need to establish a transportation system which is congruent with different global trends.

For instance, as one relevant example, there might be high economic growth in Southern Asia while in lesser-developed countries there is less need for rapid transport due to struggling economies. The global spatial organization recognizes these changing
