 Electrical and Electronic Principles (A) UFMFP8-15-1 Aims and ObjectivesThe purpose of this lab is to experience and study the Kirchhoff’s Voltage and Current Laws. Examine the given resistive circuits using the above laws. By the end of this lab, you should be able to analyze series parallel combinations of electronic circuits. You are required to record all the activities (i.e., observations, results and comments) in your logbook as you carry out the complete task.Equipment required:Desktop PC, scientific calculator and LogbookProcedure:1.

Using Kirchhoff’s Voltage Law, find the unknown voltage for each network as given in the following: You are required to record all calculations in finding unknown parameters of the circuits KVL states that the algebraic sum of the voltages across any set of branches in a closed loop is zero.Case (a) Case (b) 2. Find V2 using Kirchhoff’s Voltage Law of circuit for the network shown in the following figure. Also Determine I and R1 and R3Record all calculations in finding unknown parameters of the circuitsNB: Calculations next page 3.

Discussion on Results and Observations:In Kirchhoff’s Voltage Law, the algebraic sum of the voltages across any set of branches in a closed loop is zero. However, for this to be true a current direction must be assumed.

As one moves across a resistor voltages drops and therefore the value of that voltage should be taken as negative. On the other, as one cross from negative terminal of a voltage source to the positive terminal of the same voltage source, the voltage value is taken as positive. The contrary is true when moving from a positive terminal of a resistor to the negative terminal. On the other hand, as regards to Kirchhoff’s Current Law, the algebraic sum of the currents in all the branches that converge in a common node is equal to zero.

All the currents flowing into a particular node are taken to be positive and those flowing out of the same node are taken to be negative. The net effect is a zero current at that node.The experiment was successful as I was able to use both KCL and KVL to carry out network analysis of simple electrical circuits.
