Reproduced Vs Original Pieces Devaluation definition: lessening in value or stature Reproduction of poemsin itself is an artistic endeavor to improve on aspects missed out by the original author of the piece. It gives the reproducer a voice, which captures their innermost feelings and emotions which they think are hitherto misunderstood. Through making replicas of original pieces, new scenes and experiences are captured which in turn add value to the original piece and lets the reader see through the eyes of another. “It must reach out and touch many fingers, not just yours or mine.” (Davis p.382) Interactions of ideas, inviting of varied opinions and points of view not only bolsters poetry but also ensures the intellectual thrive of the players in the artistic circle. “I want their works to be accessible to friends, families, non-writers. By accessible, I don’t mean that their works should fit any particular stylistic or content mold. Their works may still be hermetic, obtuse, “difficult.” I mean that I want to do as much as possible to ensure that their works reach a wide audience” (Magi p.2). In writing this Magi argues out that artistic works should be communicated with the fourth estate and that the non readers should also be incorporated no matter their writing techniques. Both pieces further reveal that there exist large audiences for pieces of art other than the commonly assumed fans. Digital reproduction of artistic material, including fine art, music and video, is precise and sharp in matching the original piece. “This means that any video, audio, or photographic work of art can be endlessly reproduced without degradation, always the same, always perfect.” (Davis p.382). Therefore the gist captured at the time of production of the original document is preserved if not enhanced. Poets are encouraged to embrace up to date technologies and expertise in producing their pieces. With modern technology, manipulations to the original pieces are possible. Art is alive, it might be abstract or tangible, but most postulate that it is real. Through poems artists are able to capture group emotions through various experiences shared, coincidentally or by design, by a certain group of persons. The style used during delivery challenges the reader to develop an inner “eye” that will enable them see beyond the phase value hence exposing them to new horizons in terms of expanding and sharing schools of thought. Jill introduces the term “gift publishing” where one writer gets to critique another writer’s works and in turn publish it. This enables the reader of a certain piece to internalize it and be able to report it, but now using their own literature. This culture stirs creativity among a people. More than a decade after Lyrnan, libraries increasingly offer not stolid, imperious texts but fields of knowledge on a terminal with which the user can interact, revising and extending the central text. Potentially, the reader isnow, as Lyrnan said in another context, the author (Davis p.383) Beauty is expressed clothing but art is accentuated through poetry. It enables the reader to pay particular attention to detail through the use of sprinkled imagery to exacerbate and illuminate aspects. Davis on his piece argues that with computer-based digital technology he is able to transfer his early video works from analogue to digital media and right what he got wrong. He persists further and says that with this he will be able to produce a “post-original original” (Davis p.383) of his initial works. The replica in turn will guarantee the writer some level of satisfaction. From times well beyond the writing age, poetry has been used as a mechanism of historical representation of what previous generations thought as important, profound and beautiful. It captures words; depict events and concepts from the past. Jill in appreciation of the past praises publishers who lay emphasis on ancient manuscripts. He relishes the importance of these scrolls and agrees to a fee being charged for accessing them. Online publication however, increases the viewership of an article. It is convenient and cost effective as it doesn’t involve rigorous vetting and editorial processes. Manual publication of manuscripts is dogged with inequities and the best could end up being unpublished. “But I am completely aware that there are many worthy manuscripts out there waiting to be published; how mine was selected is more than a bit mysterious.” (Magi p.5) Before generating original ideas, individuals have to research in areas relevant to the topic of interest. This involves delving and perusal of texts and literature from other experts. Breaking down of these ideas enables the reader to understand the building blocks of that text from where they may proceed to their ideas. “ when I deconstruct meaning, I recreate it within a subjective context that is inevitably unique, no matter how ordered or predestined” (Davis p.384). Through this the replicated idea can be used to communicate another individual’s thoughts and aspirations. The audience of written pieces is advised to move away from the hyped “best seller” novels, cut across the divide and appreciate writing as a pedagogical opportunity. Traditional writing and publishing practices expose the writers to economic subversion. This is heralded by publishing hegemony, where pieces published reflect class selectivity and singular cultural sensibility. The publishers are challenged to reach out to writers of various cultures and economic prowess. This will facilitate writing on a broader scope and a myriad of topics. Re-writing of a piece of literature in prose while explaining the author’s intended message will enable other readers to understand it better compared with the taxing task of having to read and at the same time decipher what the author’s intention was. Edited books can prove to be a vital source of inspiration to readers, especially those non staunch, because some authors write their pieces in a language and manner only understood to them. They linger in an era where publication of books was marred with whispered heroic tales and mysteries and hence left it to the reader to deconstruct their intended message, though most quite couldn’t get it right. Reproduction of a piece provides a platform for marketing the piece. Through digital technology and the use of internet, published books can be accessed and reviewed from places far and wide through literary review segments. Through rating of pieces of literature present online an author can be able to establish how frequently their piece is analyzed. Clarifications concerning the motivating factors behind the publication can be made during interactions on such sorties. It could also pose as an opportunity to be examined and by other professionals in the field. The writer encourages fellow writers to embrace originality in their articles and always try to capture those elusive moments inherent of genuine pieces: “Here is where the aura resides-not in the thing itself but in the originality of the moment when we see, hear, read, repeat, revise.” (Davis p.386) The acute deficiency of a reading culture in the society is instigated by authors, particularly who pay no interest at all to their readers. These authors do not give necessary instructions or nit bits on how the reader is supposed to approach the book. While some authors go ahead and write guide books for their ‘audiences’, others fail to provide their publications proper publicity therefore making them absolute flops in the market. Jill informs us that after embracing subscription models to distribute chapbooks, he received responses from some subscribers while some went quiet. Some subscribers are a complete mystery to me; I’ll never know them, nor will I know how they respond to the chapbooks. But some subscribers have asked me personally how to read the books they are receiving in the mail. Some report back to me that the books are beautiful and they know they wouldn’t be able to find them at the average bookstore. (Magi p.2) Works Cited Davis, Douglas.
