The neoclassical theory of sustainable growth is applicable in explaining the business practices of Judy Wicks. The neoclassical theory of sustainable growth In business, the neoclassical theory of sustainable growth assumes a self-regulating nature for the business environment. The environment around Judy’s restaurant is self-regulating, because each party considers the impact of their business practices on the environment. The welfare of the animals is a priority as both suppliers and the community ensures that business practices are sustainable. While literary readers will identify her provisional influence on the community, she has openly associated with people since her childhood. Wicks has a strong connection to her background that enables her to relate with the community, city, and beyond. The ethical principle associated with Judy Wicks’ Behaviors Theorists and scholars state that the purpose of every business should go beyond satisfying their individual needs (Wicks 43). Cultivating virtues such as self-interest is a requirement for most businesses. Companies should investigate their main interests before proceeding to engage in business. This is a lawful duty for most businesses since owners and employers have a powerful say in the success of their operations. Businesses have to meet values such as trust, respect, and satisfying the needs of employees, if they are to succeed in a business. Trust and respect With trust, one is able to operate a company successfully by creating good relationships between themselves and the business. When business stakeholders such as investors, customers, suppliers and employees, operate based on trust, the company is bound to grow ethically. Trust creates an ethical relationship between stakeholders that creates respect for each other’s operations. When there are disagreements, businesses sit together and work out their issues peacefully. With respect, businesses are able to tell if a company can take on behaviors that will help shape the economies. Business responsibilities Judy Wicks maintains her responsibilities to her employers, suppliers, and customers and by creating trust, which respects the promises she makes to these stakeholders. In unexpected events that may hinder handling of business responsibilities, communication is the best approach of reaching a consensus (Wicks 47). Business responsibilities have an influence that transcends ethical practices and redefines business practices. How the local economy solved Judy Wicks’ social problems Judy Wicks is right to state that the local economy has redefined how she view her social problems. She categorically states that focusing on growing the local economy has helped her grow her business from a tiny restaurant to a national activist. The memoir is an inspiration to readers who desire to lift their businesses up. Those who want to grow their careers can also draw inspiration from the text. It is notable that few companies are able to develop and carry on ethical and sustainable practices as Judy Wicks did. In sum, the business environment of White Dog Cafés and the life of Judy through to her position in activism is an experience worth sharing. The entrepreneur has grown from a local who lived on the block to one who engages in activism to pass political thoughts. Judy Wicks has developed her position from a restaurant owner to a nationwide political activist. The entrepreneur accepts sustainability practices because of their impact in creating environmental awareness.
