? New or unique practices in EMS EMS is known to benefit both groups and individuals by the below mentioned practices. First, its ability to respond to emergencies. It is the expectation of every person for EMS to reenter this healthcare service even if the patient involved does not have instant money for treatment. The transportation of those injured in accidents and the ill. EMS uses vehicle in the form of ambulance to quickly take such patients to hospitals for fast treatment. Drivers using these ambulances are advised to drive safely by avoiding reckless driving in order to reduce accidents by the time the patients reach the hospital. Again, the vehicles used , should be checked for any mechanical problems to enhance long term service to the patients ( Adam, 2008 pp 22). Internal education and training of both patients and non-patients in the rural or remote places. Rural places are hardship places whereby getting any first aid services or health related help is difficult thus most of this assistance should benefit the residents there. Still the employees are taught certification especially with scholarships. After being taught about health care, preventive and safety measures, individuals are tested their understanding level in both written and practical ways. This knowledge is provided in order to enable people to take personal initiative just in case an emergency occurred and a medical person is not within the reach. Besides, the managers are trained on the way to best lead its team and manage its operations so that they can be efficient and effective on how to deliver best services to its patients . Also the individuals are trained on health care services in laboratories so that they can reach remote and rural places well ( Harrington, 2008 pp 35). All this is done purposely to reduce private industry costs and to supplement the system. Communication and the provision of health care messages. EMS serves to inform the employees and their families, the public, public safety agencies and safety departments through the use of social networking services such as twitter and Facebook. In this way, many patients who are technologically connected can view these messages. EMS therefore creates awareness about its activities and makes the people know about how good services can be delivered. Measuring quality benchmarking. This involves determining the extend of patients stakeholders and employee satisfaction. This greatly promotes their loyalty to their dependence on the emergency medical services. Supply and logistics. Emergency medical services works towards reducing warehousing of a lot of supplies. These could either be from various vendors. This is enhanced by enhancing in time ordering of systems. In logistics part, the managers ensure that the equipment they use are well accounted for through electronic check. Headcount proactive practices in management. The management team in EMS practices is supposed to be aware of the exact number of its members who reach out to the patients in service delivery. This is so to help each individual become accountable for all the activities done. Finance entails EMS practices such as making financial statements that can show the service which each individual performed. This is of importance because it ensures accountability and enhanced decision making activities. Again, it enables an individual and the entire agency to avoid any unnecessary costs . Auditing is done by an independent agency. This EMS practice is a good measure of the degree of performance and productivity. It enables the team involved in delivering medical services know the mush cost they are too experienced in order to avoid excess costs for better work to its people. Again, proper billing is enabled. The ability of medical officials to respond to diseases which are pandemic. For instance, swine flu (HINI) was one illness that spread fast and even ended up killing people in some parts of the world. The emergency medical service agencies had to come up and attend to such patients thus reducing the mortality rate ( Harrington, 2008 pp 35). Pre-screening people for possible diseases. In case of any pandemic disease outbreak, the medical officials advise patients to be examined in order to detect any signs of such diseases for early treatment. In case one person is found suffering from it, he or she is isolated in order to reduce communication between them and to ensure that the disease does not spread to the rest of the people. Creating places for the staff to bring their families in case of callbacks is another emergency medical service. The management first makes sure that the standards and the working conditions are healthful and safe. By this doing, the employees find it easy to come to work. It is also an implication of a sense of security for these families. EMS still ensures that the services rendered by the medical people are reliable and up to standard. The services are expected to be accurate and with immediate effect to prevent cases of deaths in case the patient involved is in a critical condition. Offering protection to the EMS practitioners is also essential. These people include ambulance drivers, and the medical personnel. The safer they are the longer and better the chances of providing emergency medical services ( AMA press, 2008 pp 15). Various agencies are also involved in providing free clinics for immunization. New born babies and those in a certain prescribed age are required to be taken to these clinics by their parents for early tests. Dangerous diseases known to affect children such as polio are thus prevented and by thus doing the community is largely assisted. Sponsorship of drills and conferences in preventing and managing disasters. The remote areas are known to be the most affected and destroyed by catastrophes like fire. This is as a result of negligence and a degree of carelessness during daily chores such as cooking or ironing of clothes. Besides, the supply and delivery of medical equipment are another EMS practice. These emergency services cannot efficiently take place without the materials or tools required and therefore fast delivery of these materials is essential. An operation for instance would require cutting tools and their absence probably nothing can be done ( Guido, 2010). Emergency medical services can be effectively being undertaken during the day. It is therefore the duty of the involved agencies to determine the appropriate time and when it is safe to assist the patients bearing in mind the time the incident occurred. In urban areas for instance, there is a great challenge in delivering patient care during night shifts as compared to the remote places. Lessons meant for other public disciplines should also be drawn as an EMS service to the community. References Adams, J. Emergency medicine. Saunders/Elsevier.2008. Print Guido, G.W.
