TB is spread through the air from one person to another. The TB bacteria are put into the air when a person with active TB disease of the lungs or throat coughs, sneezes, speaks, or sings. People nearby may breathe in these bacteria and become infected. A person with TB Disease has symptoms that may include: a bad cough that lasts 3 weeks or longer, pain in the chest, coughing up blood or sputum, weakness or fatigue, weight loss, no appetite, chills, fever, and sweating at night.” If you, or any of your friends, colleagues and acquaintances exhibit any or all of the abovementioned symptoms, there is no need to panic.

Just proceed to the Employee Health Services for further evaluation. As indicated by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, “if not treated properly, TB disease can be fatal. TB disease was once the leading cause of death in the United States. People with TB disease are sick from TB germs that are active, meaning that they are multiplying and destroying tissue in their body. They usually have symptoms of TB disease. People with TB disease of the lungs or throat are capable of spreading germs to others.

They are prescribed drugs that can treat TB disease”. In this regard, before waiting for further worsening one’s health condition, and those of your relatives, friends, colleagues and acquaintances, call Sharon Rodgers at the soonest possible time at 856-346-6040. A review of your records indicates that you have no immunity to measles/chicken pox. While vaccination is not yet mandatory, Employee Health at Kennedy Health System is strongly urging you to consider receiving the necessary vaccine/s.
