As the major part of the research, the BBC’s programs and schedules were contrasted with those of CCTV and comments made on the scope, significance, and reach of the two. In addition, a special focus was given to the bias, newsworthiness, and scope of the news carried by the two broadcasters. This also includes an exclusive analysis of the recent coverage by both the channels of Tibet disturbance with the Beijing Olympics torch relay. China Central Television or the CCTV is a prime Television network of China.

CCTV is under the jurisdiction of the State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television, and as such can be said to be a state-controlled television broadcast service. CCTV-9 is the latest channel of the network and it reaches out to the millions of Chinese households as well as to a wide number of viewers across The United Kingdom and France via satellite subscriptions and across several cities of the United States via Fox cable satellite subscription. (Jirik, 2004) CCTV was launched in 1958 as Beijing Television and later authorized by the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), the Beijing Television Station renamed China Central Television, and English abbreviation is official “CCTV”, called “Chinese CCTV” outward in 1978.

CCTV is the major television broadcaster in China, is National television broadcast station of Peoples Republic of China (PRC), and also is the Chinese important news public opinion organization, is the party, the government and peoples important mouthpiece. Starting with just as a single evening, CCTV now has 16 channels, most of them being run 24-hours.
