Walking My own experience as a walker started with my strong determination to become an athletic looking man some three years ago. I had a very fat body that gave me a disapproving appearance that always stood on my way of becoming a medical representative. Being a post graduate in Bio Chemistry, I had learnt many things about obesity, fat and various other terms which would deform the specimen out look of human body. When my approach to numerous doctors utterly failed, a few of my friends suggested me yoga.

As I always wanted a rather obvious result, I could not resort to the new exercise. That was the time somebody suggested me walking. Walking according to me is surely the best form of exercise; both physically and economically. It is the most commonly practiced exercise because it requires no equipment or special arrangements for execution. Unlike the ancient times, man has little time to care for his health. Owing to strive for excellence, he is forced undergo stress and prolonged mind works whereby he ignores the need for physically nursing himself.

For townies, the only suggestion could be walking. As the famous quote suggests “Health is wealth”, it is needless to say that one must possess sound health. Most people think they don’t need a class for walking for it is something like taking a coaching for breathing air or drinking water. But many American doctors suggest that there must clues on proper steps of walking as an exercise. I used to think I did not need any class for walking but in due course I realized that there are several things to be focused on while walking such as pressure application, balance of weight, time and pace etc.

You may find some physiologists comparing human body with a machine; they say it is like a car. But you can easily maintain that when a wheel gets flat, the car will not move any further whereas if one leg hurts, we may limp on the other and make at least improper movements. What lies in the core is human body has the ability to adjust with temporary failures and repair the faults by self. When I asked my doctor why he advised me walking class, his explanation was that one should know the science of walking because forcing body to move against the natural pattern and structure of bones could, in his sense, lead to serious orthopedic problems.

During the further classes I came to know that there are two types of formal walking; power-walking or speed walking and race walking. Though both of them required technical perfection, race walking was an Olympic sport while power-walking was done as a recreational sport. He also taught me that in race walking, the back toe of the walker should not have left the ground until the heel of his front foot had touched the ground. Walking helped me change my look in the first six months itself.

My new look changed my attitude and filled me with enough confidence to stand tall. As my interest to know more about walking grew, I learnt that it could prevent type 2 diabetes. In some books I read that in males, walking strengthens the heart. The book says, in women, who walked three or more hours per week, the risk of coronary failures or a heart attack is found less. Various books I read have given me ideas about bone mass formation, brain stimulation and other benefits of walking. As a great boon I personally experienced that it reduced my depression.

As a final line of my evaluation of walking as an exercise, I think I could reduce a number of unwanted eating drives and disinterests on normal things as a result of it. I can surely say that walking alone has changed my life fruitfully. As student my goal was becoming a professional in a medical sales industry. The dream came true with my choice of this great exercise, thanks to all who have advised me. Now my personal suggestion to all is “Walking is the best way to personal beautification”.
