The career aspirations and goals resonate with the skills disclosed in the skills audit section. The information contained in the C.V is very helpful as it can be used by a potential employer to assess my qualification, skills and capability. As such, the C.V. has been written coherently to reveal my strengths such that potential employers can understand why I could be the best candidate for a particular position, which I will be interested in. Therefore, this CV is designed to attract an employer’s attention by making it possible for them to assess my unique qualities in the shortest time possible. For that reason, the CV has started by highlighting what I can offer to the employer at the beginning. Ideally, my CV captures the following skills which were also the main components in the skills audit.1 My teamwork capability has been emphasised in the CV. As part of my career objectives, I have disclosed that I want to be a team player. This issue is fundamental considering that most of the organisational goals cannot be achieved without people working together as a group, and therefore any potential employer will be on the lookout for those potential employees who are driven by the spirit of teamwork. In my profile, I have mentioned that I am a strong communicator, a quality that resonates with written and verbal communication skills mentioned in the audit section. Certainly, any business activity involves communication and many employers are interested with employees who have strong verbal and written capability. Strong initiative and creativity is also empathised in my CV, because as explain in the skills audit, this skill will make employers to realise that I can add value in the companies because creativity will help solve problems and come up with new ways of doing things. This unique quality differentiates me from a crowd of applicants. Also my strong computer qualifications as disclosed in the CV add credence to the earlier assertion that I have strong presentation skills. This skill is especially evident with the disclosure that I have completed several computer packages such as PowerPoint, which is used in presentations.2 Having disclosed from my skills audit that I have especially strong networking skills is evidenced from my CV’s list of referees sections whereby I have provided a list of personalities holding high positions in different organisations; all of whom I have known through networking while in the University. The employers are free to contact any of these referees to verify any information they deem important. PORTFOLIO ITEM(s) 3: Two graduate jobs (include the screenshots or scanned information) that are appropriate to your needs and skills plus discussion. Figure 1: screenshot 1 The above job is in the field of customer service representative, which I have chosen as an entry job because I really like to serve customers and would like to start my career in such a position. Besides, the required profile perfectly matches my attributes and hence I stand at a better chance to qualify for the position. Most importantly, and highlighted in my CV and skills audit section, creativity and innovation are my major driving force, an attribute that is very important for this position. As it appears, this position requires strong academic grades, which I qualify because I have scored highly in my academic work. From my career objectives and profile, I am very exact on what I want and the value I believe I can add to an organisation, therefore, the employer will find a strong candidate in me. Also, another profile that has been stated in this job is that they want a result oriented person who uses initiative and creativity to seize opportunities, a profile that resonates so well with my interests and motivations. Finally, the reason why I found this job suitable for me is because I have strong communication skills and passion for success – these are important requirements for this position. Figure 2: JOB2 I was so much attracted to the flexibility of this position and also have a lot of interest in supply chain which is somewhat related to my degree of study. The variety of placements as disclosed from the job advert driven more of my interest because I felt that this will equip me with skills from a variety of business environments, something that I have aspired since I started my undergraduate studies. I derive motivation from working in under pressure, and hence this will increase my speed and accuracy as the job profile requires. Other attributes that match my skills includes team player, good communication skills, good management skills, willingness to learn, innovativeness among others. Travelling is part of my hobby and hence I believe it will not mean any challenge if am required to travel extensively. PORTFOLIO ITEM 4: Evidence of one organised group meeting and discussion of the mock group interview Notes from the meeting During the mock meeting, I acted as an interviewee and was interviewed by a group of three panelists. The aim was to defend myself over a graduate position I had applied 2 weeks earlier by answering a number of questions from different panelists. Some of the most memorable questions and the way I answered them are as follows: Interviewer: Tell us who you are? Answer: I am a dynamic, self directed and motivated, diligent, strong communicator, creative and enthusiastic person. I am ready and willing to handle complex challenging tasks and I am industrious towards achieving my objectives or the objectives of the organisation. Interviewer: Why do you want to work with this company? Answer: Founded on the research have done, this company is very competitive and it seems to be going places. When I visited your Web site, I found some remarkable information about your future prospects. This is the company I have been on the lookout for, a place where my experience, background, and skills can be found valuable and used to create positive change. Interviewer: What motivates you? Answer: I have always been motivated by the desire to add value in whatever I do. I want to stand out and to be triumphant in my job, both for my own personal fulfillment and for my organisation. Discussion I have learnt a lot about the most common questions that are asked during job interviews, and now I stand at a better chance to emerge successful in my interviews. For example, I have learnt the following important points in relation to the above questions that I answered during the mock interview: Question: Tell us who you are? I have learnt that the interviewer is not usually interested in knowing the interviewees names when asking this question. Instead, there are hidden qualities that they want to discover when asking this question, which usually comes first. This includes confidence and the strengths that make a candidate suitable for the position in question.3 Question: Why do you want to work with this company? I have learnt that the interviewers are interested in knowing whether the candidate is interested enough, for example to have researched about the company. A focused candidate will always research about the company and try to relate how such a company suits their career aspirations.4 Question: What motivates you? I have learned that the best answer for this question should reflect how a candidate can be self-motivated and particularly want to work for a positive cause.5 References "How to make a Good Impression: Back to Basics...
