Visualizing Psychology Review al Affiliation Visualizing Psychology Review The difficult term under the phases of prenatal development, is fetal. The term according to my understanding refers to a state in which a child undergoes during the gestation period. The term seams complex since the actual meaning does not relate to its name. The book describes the term to be only the final stages of phases of prenatal development, which gives it a different meaning. The other difficult term in the chapter is “formal operational”.

According to my understanding the formal development refer to a specified mode of development with defined patterns being characterizes by the development. The complexity of the term emerges when the actual meaning depict a different perception hence becoming difficult to understand the development stage (Huffman & Carpenter, 2013). In chapter 10, the most difficult term is Androgyny. At first I understood the term to mean a genetic disorder that affect production of testosterones in male adults.

The term becomes complex ones going through the chapter. The application of the term to mean an individual exhibiting both gender traits made my understanding more difficult and complex in understanding the Eriksons Eight Stages of Psychosocial Development, which are crucial in psychology (Huffman & Carpenter, 2013).In the final review chapter, the most complex term was “Phallic”. The term to my understanding means an object that resembles an erect penis. The term becomes complex once it is used in Freuds Five Psychosexual Stages of Development.

The term picks then a new meaning from what it means. The book indicates this term to be stage where self-identity is exhibited.ReferenceHuffman, K. & Carpenter, S. (2013).Visualizing Psychology. New York: Wiley Publishers.
