Introduction to Christian Life Ministry and Mission: Personal and Spiritual Reflective Report Table of Contents Introduction 3 Discussion 3 Conclusion 9 Bibliography 11 Introduction Getting an admission opportunity in a church has been one of the greatest achievements of my life. I consider this as a holy prospect to serve a spiritual foundation area through which, people communicate to their God. However, attaining this opportunity did not turn out to be an easy task, as it required great amount of effort in terms of making myself capable enough for reaching this achievement point. Over time, I have participated in multiple activities conducted by various societal groups having significant amount of involvement with the church. By getting involved in these activities, I have attained a broader level of understanding regarding various types of responsibilities, which I will get subjected to, once I become a member of the church. I have also faced multiple obstacles in the path, through which, I have strategized to move forward for achieving my perceived goals. Thus, the prime objective of this essay is to elaborate my journey towards becoming a member of the church in a detailed manner. Discussion I always wanted to actively participate in the activities of the church. I also understand the fact that for attaining my expected goal, I will have to go through multiple procedures and wait for the appropriate opportunity. Getting placed in a church required me to be applicable to certain criteria based on which, the church selects its candidates. At one point of time, I found it highly tedious towards transforming myself in accordance to the selection criteria. But gradually with time and careful planning, I overcame all the obstacles. I came to know that one of the local churches was inviting candidates for placement. This was a golden opportunity in terms of utilising my skills and knowledge for attaining a selection preference1. In this context, my involvement in the Christian Ministry proved to be a great support in getting selected for this placement opportunity. In general practice, the churches contact the Ministry for attaining candidate recommendations, thus eventually I got recommended to a local church by the Ministry. The church was looking for candidates having significant amount of knowledge in the areas of discipleship and Pastoral Support. For the beneficiary part, I had expertise in both the aforementioned areas. I attained extensive knowledge regarding these two aspects during my service period within UNI (Christian Ministry). Discipleship, being my theme during my involvement in UNI, has helped me in attaining a deeper understanding of Christianity. The teachings provided to me under discipleship have appropriately helped me towards attaining a better growth perspective. I have understood the importance of communicating preaches of church to the individuals within the Christian community. This understanding has provided me an edge over the other participants in terms of getting selected as a member of the church2. “Colossians 3:16 - Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”3 This biblical passage inspired me the most during my involvement in the choir musical activities. I specifically observed that the senior pastors take into consideration, the subjective marking criteria as a specific factor towards making appropriate candidate selection. This aspect came up as an advantage because I have achieved appreciable level of scores in all the programs and activities where I have participated. One instance, which I would prefer providing for this context is regarding my involvement in the choir. Participation in these types of group singing performances has helped me in grooming my interpersonal communication skills. Regardless of the fact that the choir signing events has encouraged my knowhow regarding the Christian community. It has also helped me in developing the level of self -confidence4. In addition, I also believe that the performance of the candidates in the choir events is considered as a crucial factor in the disciple selection procedures. Churches also pay specific attention in terms of evaluating the level of Christianity knowledge possessed by the disciple candidates. This is due to the fact that the church wants to communicate the message of God to his followers through the medium of songs. As an overall result, my appreciable performances in the choir events have also added another success factor towards attaining the selection opportunity5. “Ezekiel 33:8 - When I say unto the wicked, O wicked [man], thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked [man] shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.”6 This has been the second most inspirational biblical message that motivated the idea of evangelism within me. With the help of this biblical passage, I have got the confidence of spreading God’s teaching within the followers. Apart from the above discussed facts, my involvement in the Evangelism team also appeared to be a major support for me in terms of reinforcing my chances of getting selected. I was involved in the home community Evangelism team and through this exposure, I attained significant amount of knowledge in the areas of Evangelism. I understand that churches pay specific attention to this concept due to the fact that it is an important tool for attaining membership. Moreover, during my placement process, I was extensively questioned by the senior pastors regarding my knowledge in Evangelism. During the involvement period within the home community Evangelism team, I was taught about the importance of Evangelism during the transformation process7. The training sessions in the team also taught us multiple facts regarding Evangelism, which can be used overseas for the development and growth of churches. Although, I had extensive knowledge and training in practicing Evangelism but still I witnessed difficulties in getting habituated to multiple other tutorial aspects of Evangelism that was provided to me by the church, once I got selected. However, with time and continued efforts I surpassed the difficulties and successfully attained in-depth knowledge regarding the transformational process. My expertise in terms of addressing audiences also added up to my value proposition as being a perfect disciple. Over the years, through my continued choir performances, I have attained the skill of explaining my thoughts and understandings to the people who want to know more about God. The local church took specific consideration of these skills within me and thus provided me with a priority in the selection process8. ”2 Corinthians 1:4:- Who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”9 This biblical passage conveys an inspirational message regarding the necessity of undertaking Pastoral Support activities. I believe that my involvement in the Pastoral Support team has played a crucial role in my selection process. The campaign programs in terms of helping and aiding the school students have subsequently upgraded the management qualities within me, which in turn have paved a long way for me towards achieving my perceived objectives. With the effective support and guidance from the supervisory teaching heads, I have attained multiple behavioural improvement that in turn is beneficial for the church during the preaching sessions. This confirmed my appropriateness as being preferable by the church members. Being in the area of Pastoral Support also benefitted me in terms of motivational skills. It added up to my confidence levels as well10. Over the years of serving the young students has also impacted my thinking abilities in a positive manner. My attitude towards God and human life has also improvised with time. All these went on adding up to my expertise levels and reinforced the reason for selecting me as an appropriate disciple for the church11. “3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”12 An in-depth meaning can be attained regarding the importance of being a part of the Youth Ministry from this biblical passage. My involvement in the activities of the Youth Ministry has also been one of the major aspects in terms of attaining the church placement opportunity. Throughout multiple campaigns conducted by this Ministry, we have motivated various people in terms of getting involved into their spiritual life13. As a team we have imparted Catholic faith within multiple people belonging from different parts of the world and have also broadened their perceptions regarding the spiritual aspects. These factors and knowledge proved to be beneficial for the church and thus further reinforced the decision of myself getting selected for the church placements14. Conclusion Through the above discussion, I have made a detailed elaboration of each and every aspects of the journey regarding myself getting placed as a member of the church. The discussion elaborates a unique structure of all my strategies that have helped me in fulfilling my set goals. The extensive team works in terms of spreading the knowledge of Christianity and God has subsequently enhanced my interest level towards understanding the history in an in-depth manner. By taking into consideration, the requirements criteria of the churches and the trend of their functionality, I believe that I have adequate knowledge and appropriate skills in terms of accomplishing the responsibilities for which, I will be hired. Although, the primitive experiences in terms of addressing these responsibilities turned up to be hard but eventually, I started finding these types of challenges quite amazing. Moreover, the management qualities within me as already discussed above has also came a long way in motivating and developing me in difficult scenario. As being a part of the Ministry, I have also attained significant level of knowledge, guidance and reference from the senior members of the Ministry. Thus, in an overall manner, I can say that my journey towards getting hold of the church placement opportunity was not at all easy. I also believe that positive efforts made by individuals towards achieving their goals never go wasted. Bibliography Esvbible. ‘John 3’. You Must Be Born Again. , 2014, (accessed 22 August 2014).
