Discussion The developmentsin the social over the recent past have significantly influenced fundraising activities. Several social media have emerged and are used by very many people as well as organizations all over the world taking advantages of available internet connections. The social media are platforms for social interactions and sharing information about problems or issues faced in life. Fundraisers have moved to utilize the social media to promote activities and obtain increased donations that could not be possible without the use of social media (Sargeant & Jay, 2014 p337).

The fundraisers use the social media to share information about the programs which creates awareness in many people from different places across borders. Some people in the local regions as well as from the international world would access the information and offer to give towards the activities. The social media have also been used to attract attention of the online traffic by using celebrities and other easily recognized public figures. The social network users could adopt the activities promoted by renowned personalities which include fundraising such as contributions towards helping a child with a rare serious disease or a social construction.

Besides the use of renowned personalities, individuals would share information with other online users and friends who could respond by giving donations (Sargeant & Jay, 2014 p338). Fundraisers would also partner with other organizations that are present in the social media such as news media houses that promote fundraising activities. Fundraisers could also advertise their activities through websites or own social accounts from where the social media users can access the information and make inquiries or donation procedures.

The social media have also transformed the practices of presenting the fundraising activities from the ordinary presentations to more attractive means. This includes use of well-designed graphics and pictures to demonstrate the functions carried out by the fund raising organization. The people in the social media would believe these illustrations and could offer donations. Also, the fundraiser organizations design the adverts posted in social media to contain fewer words that users would easily read and make informed decisions about supporting the fundraiser (Sargeant& Jay, 2014 p340).

The social media have also enabled the use of icons as well as secondary website pages that direct potential donors to more information on the activities of the fundraising organization. This enables brief presentation of the fundraisers message that online users could read and understand easily and direct those who need more information to the secondary websites pages. Strong persuasive language is also used to pass the message of the fundraiser and convince people to donate. The fundraisers have also applied the services of online advertisers and organizations offering advice on using the social media to attain fundraising success.

The social media donations may not be reliable and the new organizations have emerged to enhance activities that would raise effectiveness of fundraising. 2) Why people give to a particular charity Outline People give towards specific charity because of various reasons: Affiliation to religious groups Public announcements or donations given in the past Need for sustainable repetitive donations As a way of giving to the society Affected by cause addressed by the charity in the past Discussion Charity involves giving funds and other resources to certain groups of underprivileged people in the society.

Although many charity organizations carry out similar functions in the society, people give to a particular charity due to several factors. One reason is the affiliation of the charity organizations with certain religious groups (Sargeant & Jay, 2014 p234). Some religions as well as dominations have developed charity programs to help certain groups of needy people in the society such as the followers. The followers of these religions or denominations would give towards such charitable activities while they may not give to others.

In addition, some people would give towards charity organizations associated with religions due to strong attachment or belief of religious teachings for charity donations. Some people would be motivated to give to certain charity that announce past contributions to public. Announcement of donations creates a sense of honesty and accountability to members of the public who could respond by giving more resources to such organizations (Sargeant & Jay, 2014 p235). People would be encouraged to give donations if they trust their donations are used well for the intended purposesand that managers are accountable which is achieved through public announcements.

In addition, the people would know others who have given donations which could attract them to give towards the particular charity. Some people would not give donations to a charity that does not announce past donations. People could give to a specific charity due to the need for repetitive interactions. Many charity organizations are meant to last for a longtime and would require continuous donation practices. Some people could choose to donate to a specific charity in order to ensure they sustain regular donations rather than giving to different charities which may be unsustainable.

People would be strained in their resources if they give to various charities more frequently and therefore selecting one they can sustain becomes appropriate. People give donations to specific charity as a way of giving back to the society. The charity works are about promoting the welfare of society whereby those with the resources would help the needy to live better lives (Sargeant&Jay,2014 p234). There are charities developed at different levels or regions to cater for the specific needs of the underprivileged.

People would give to the charities in their regions as a way of giving back to the local community. They would thus not give to charities in other places where they are not recognized or do not address the needs of needy people in their regions. People would give towards a specific charity if the cause addressed could have affected them or close relatives and friends (Sargeant & Jay,2014 p236). Some charities are developed to address the specific cause for instance,chronic diseases such as TB and cancer or orphanage challenges.

The people who could have experienced these causes in the past would have a better understanding of the challenges faced by people with similar problems. They would give donations to charities dealing with the specific causes to help those faced with similar causes have better experiences.
