It is essential to state that the paper "A Model of Old Workers to Continue Working" is a good example of management annotated bibliography. Old age has always been associated with the need for retirement from workplaces as a result of advancing ages and the inability to cope with technological demands. Despite the age challenge, most old people find it more suitable to remain in the workplace due to various reasons such as fear of the life outside the workplace, fear of family responsibility and individual’s personality among other factors. Therefore, this paper weaves various articles related to the factors which make the older generation remain at their workplaces and tries to identify ways which can be employed combat the situation.

Lambert G. E. (2006). I want to leave: A Test of a Model of Turnover Intent among Correlational Staff. Journal of Criminal Justice, 2(1), 58-78.

This article tries to evaluate the factors which contribute to the old aged desires to continue working in an organization. Personal characteristics such as age, gender, position, tenure and the educational level have been depicted to greatly influence the old age population remain working despite their old ages. Female employees are found to be at higher risk of quitting their jobs at old age as compared to the males. Work environmental conditions also have a high contribution to the prolonged stay of the old aged to remain working. These conditions include autonomy, effective workplace supervision, communication; authority and recognition within the workplace such as promotion have had a great impact.

Work attitude such as job satisfaction, and organizational behaviors and commitment have an inverse relationship with the high turnover rates hence, the increased number of the old aged working population. Job satisfaction acts as a source of incentive to the older population remain working. Strong bonds with the organization also lead to them having less desire to leave the organization leading to the prolonged working of these old aged individuals.

Shacklock K. (2008). Propensity to Continue Working: An Emerging Model for Older individuals, 2055-2061.

Labor shortage has greatly contributed to the increased rates of old aged people working in developed countries. This has led to the adoption of another mechanism such as the extension of the working lives of the older generations. Proper maintenance of individual’s health contributes to the intentions to work by the old aged. Financial instabilities make the old people have less desire to retire due to the fear of the hardships outside the working life. Apparently, positive access to social interaction at the workplace has also contributed to the behavior.

Work flexibility also plays a key role in the older generation’s employability due to autonomy which is created in these organizations. Marital statuses such as those who are divorced or separated have a higher likelihood of remaining at the workforce for a longer time than the married couples. In addition, old people’s educational attainment influences their employability and further considerations to work after their retirement. Responsibilities such as caring for the sick and the disabled relatives may contribute greatly to the old labor force participation.
