1. Introduction The information management system entails a system that provides a company with the information needed to manage an organization effectively and efficiently (O’Brien, 2009). The system involves three resources namely the people, the technology and the information. The three components are very important in the management of the information system of Emirate Company but the people are the most important component of the three. This system is the main subset of the company’s business controls of the internal controls. It covers the people’s applications in terms of the booking of the ticket, the employee’s names and any other person associated with the airline. It also entails all the documentations like the flight’s information of fuelling, maintenance among others, technologies as well as all the procedures that are used in the management by the accountants for the process of solving all the business problems like services, cost of the flight or the flights fees. 1.1. General overview of the company Emirate airline is an airline located in the Middle East and it is the largest in the region. It operates on a passage flight with more than 2400 passengers for every week. It leaves Dubai but has a number of destinations amounting to hundred and five cities in sixty-two countries. It has also three of the longest flights from Dubai to San Francisco, Los Angeles and Houston. It is a company, which contains 5000 employees all over the world. The company is also owned fully by the government of Dubai. The company has a very clean and excellent record of growth. This is because since the years of 1990’s it was recorded as one of the fastest growing airlines all over the world. Its revenues have been increasing by $100 million every year and currently it has been rates at $500 million revenue increase every year. One of the reasons as to why there has been increase in its revenue as well as market share bearing in mind the competition is very stiff is the information system management of the company, which is very effective and efficient. 2. The use of business information management system The use of the business management system has been very important in the process of running the airline in the sense that the company has been able to highlight all of its strength and weaknesses because it entails the detail of revenues, records of the employees’ performance. The identification of the above aspects has helped the company improve its operations as well as business processes. The customer feedback as well as data availability has been very helpful to the emirate company in as far as the alignment of its business processes is concerned to suit the needs of the customers (John, 2009). It is the management of the customer data effectively and efficiently that has helped the company to perform direct promotion and marketing activities. Information as far as Emirate Company is concerned being a company that is operation in a very modern but competitive world is vital. The analysts have been able to predict the trends as well as behaviours of the customers in terms of the revenue and sales. 2.1. Use of hardware technology and software for information management system Emirate software information management system is based on a system of 3000i from the corporation Panasonic Avionics. There is software called information communication entertainment, which is directly linked to the BBC news. It is the very first system to be connected to the automatic news update system. There are cameras, which are externally connected for the passengers to be able to view during the landing and the taking off. It is also the first airline to have introduced high-speed internet services for the passengers in the flight. This is due to the installation of the system called the inmarsat’s satellite. It is also ranked as the second airline in the entire world to have introduced the broadcast of the international television by the use of the same system for the passengers. Emirate airline has also been very keen in the provision of the hardware technology for the information management. Apart from the installation of the software’s, the company has also done hardware installations that are able to work hand in hand with the software. The installation of the s3ttillte is a very good example of the hardware installed. This has been very vital in the capturing of the satellites needed for the operation of the internet as well as for the passengers to be able to work on their personal business as well as retrieving other communication information they are in need. The company has also been able to keep communication during the flight much easily with the offices on the ground during a flight. 2.2. Knowledge management strategy In today’s economic status, any business that has to greatly thrive must have a great deal of knowledge management. The process of knowledge management entails the different strategies, methods, practices and ways that have been laid by a particular organization to represent, create, identify and distribute as well as adopt to the experiences and insights observed in the business on the process of its running. Theses insights enable the business management to come up with the way forward as far as the improvement of the business operations is concerned. It has been discovered that many of the business fundamental are changing at a very great and alarming rate. There is a significant change in the intangibles as well as the tangibles assets which are the core areas all these businesses are deriving their competitive power. One of the greatest requirements for any business to stand in the competition platform is the issue of innovation (Hannagan, 2005). Any business that is not carrying out innovation in all of its areas of operations is as good as dead. This is because the technologies and the consumer’s needs are frequently changing meaning that knowledge is a very critical factor as far as the production is concerned. A number of things actually lead to the best management of a company as well as evaluation of its progress. Many are the times changes occur especially in the external environment of the business world which are even unpredicted. In addition, can easily interfere with the running of the business. This is where knowledge management becomes very important because such issues can easily be arrested before they interfere with the business productivity. Setting up a committee for the purpose of knowledge management, this is a group of people that will be there to review all the laid down issues and carry out further research to affirm the truth of the matter. To come up with a strategy that transforms knowledge management into the context of business. This is whereby the committees or rather the people responsible draw a framework that will accommodate knowledge management in the form of the kind of the business the Emirates is involved in, which is entertainment. Sharing of knowledge, motivation and convergence of learning, the knowledge locus and knowledge level are very important factors as far as effectiveness of knowledge management is concerned 2.3. Risk management It is also very important to involve legislations, policies and laws that are involved in risk management. Some of these involve the management of the site while others are involved in taking care of the life and safety of the participants. The most important factor as far as this is concerned is for everyone to take responsibility in ensuring the laws and the regulations are adhered to. Some of the laws include the environment protection to ensure some of the risks do not occur; there is also the issue of life safety whereby the site management should prioritize the issue of human and property safety. There is also the aspect of personal responsibility. All the people involved in the flight must be informed that their greatest responsibility is to take care of their safety and to ensure that in all that they do, they should ensure they avoid any impeding risks with like having their safety belt tied at the right time. In addition, the lives of other people are put at risk due to the activities they may be involved in. 2.4. System development It is the responsibility of all the managers to ensure that there is an analysis done for the company or the organization for the sake of having applications that are justified and benefit as well as cost effective. There is also a need for an information system in its organizational strategic plan, which contains the mission, vision, goals and objectives of the organization. One of the main strategies in any organization is the system development life cycle. The tradition form is used for the large-scale projects of IT (Effy, 2008). It contains some sequential processes, which are used in the development of the information system. The processes involve the system analysis, system investigation, programming, design, testing, operation, maintenance and implementation. There are three main advantages that are associated with the system development life cycle namely accountability, control and error detection. However it has a major disadvantage of the nature of its structure, which is making it to be very inflexible as well as the fact that it, is very time consuming as well as very expensive. It also ensures that the users are very much discouraged in terms of the user requirements on its establishment. 2.5. Information systems management Information system management entails the different strategies, methods, practices and ways that have been laid by a particular organization to represent, create, identify and distribute as well as adopt to the experiences and insights observed in the business on the process of its running. There are many methodologies but two will be compared namely the joint application development and the integrated computer-assisted systems development tools. The joint application kind of design entails a group of tools that are used in the collection of the user requirements as well as the creation of the system designs (O’Brien, 1999). It is applied in the analysis of the systems as well as the stages of the design of the system development life cycle. It involves the meeting of the users in a group simultaneously with the main analysts. There are a number of advantages associated with this kind of approach. It can accommodate many users in the process of development hence saves a lot of time, it ensures a great support of the new system, it is well able to improve the quality of the system as well as making it easier to implement and reduces the cost of training. The disadvantage associated with it includes difficult in making all the users be able to attend the meeting and it has all the problems, which are due to the any group in the process. The integrated computer-assisted systems development tools involve specialization of the tools to be able to perform most of the tasks in the system development life cycle. Its initial stage utilizes the upper case while the ones used for the later stage of maintenance, operation and testing are called the lower case. The advantages for this includes the tools are well able to give the system effective operational life which very well able to meet the requirements of the users. It is also very useful in the process of speeding the process of development; it helps in the production of a system that is flexible (O’Brien, 1999). The disadvantages of this method are the fact that it is very expensive in terms of maintenance and building. In addition, it is very difficult to customize it. Conclusion The following are the suggested indicators of evaluating the success of the strategies in the Emirate Company. Recording the defects messages or reports coming in the company Time reduction in terms of handling the corrective reports that used to come from the consumers before the strategy was put up The amount of all the new innovative technologies and designs that the project applies within the year The feedback coming from the employees as well as the consumers of the services of the Company all over the world.
