The paper "Akamai Company SWOT Analysis" is an outstanding example of a business case study.   The background of this case study is that there has been a lot of problem in defining the current market position of the Akamai company. Therefore, this report will work to ensure that the real position of the company in the market. The analysis will also aim at identifying the competition analysis of the company. The statement of the problem for this analysis is that there is a need to ensure that the company maintain and increase its market share in the network market (Brandenburger and Nalebuff, 1996).

The analysis will also aim at identifying the current position of the company in the market. This analysis will help identify the steps the company can take so as to increase its market level and outdo its competitors as well as maintain its customer’ s base. Another problem that will be analysed in the case report is the company products that are helping the company penetrate the market and maintaining a wide range of the products. The Akamai has risen from one of the smallest companies in the world and has developed to be one of the biggest companies that are known in the networking market.

Therefore, there is a need to analyse the strategies the company have been applying so as to improve on them and introduce new ones that will increase the market share. The aims of the analysis are to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that the company is faced with during its operations. This will help in eliminating the threats and weaknesses by turning them into strengths and opportunities.

This is a commodity to be marketed. It has to satisfy customers need (Arnold, Beauchamp, & Bowie, 2013). In this case, the Akamai network offers services to its customers as the central product which should provide satisfaction to the customer in the form of increased value. The company has the best services in the network industry as compared to its competitors. This helps the company to present itself in a competitive way in the market. The company has invested in research and development to help innovate so as to improve its services.

The services have been helpful to the company to help it penetrate the domestic and international market. Therefore, this part of the market strategy has been working well to promote company’ s market extension. The company offers international and domestic services to various part of the world. The analysis will also try to identify the price which the company should take as a price for its products so as not to lose their customers to rival companies. This is the value by which a consumer is to pay for a product or the services. The price is very important because it determines the company sales and profits.

Prices should be competitive. The company prices have been the highest in the networks industry in the world. This has led to reduced customers because they have been shifting to the competitors because of their low prices. Therefore, pricing has been one of the factors leading to the reduction in demand for company products and services. This has resulted in reduced share in the market. Therefore, Akamai should have a reasonable price so as to penetrate the market.

Though the company has been offering discounts to its customers on the services from the customers this has not been enough to keep the current customers and to attract new ones. The company has been involved in a cartel that was trying to fix network prices which would see the creation of a monopoly in the pricing of the network services. This led to a reduction in the market share in favor of their competitors. The company domestic prices are a bit expensive as compared to those of their competitors though they offer better prices than their competitors.
