There is mostly a general agreement on the Stakeholder’s dialogue (SD) because it helps not only in focusing but even sustaining and maintaining the biodiversity in the different eco- systems. For the best outcomes, all the stakeholders are involved during the planning process and joint decisions are made for the mutual benefit of everyone involved.
For example all the Great Barrier Reef stakeholders (more than 60 organizations) convened and agreed to a strategic plan of 25 years for the GBR WHA. http: //www. gbrmpa. gov. au/corp_site/management/25-year_strategic_plan Their primary concerns involved Conservation, Management of Tourism and Recreation, Indigenous partnerships, Heritage, Coastal development, Quality of water, Changes in climate and the Fisheries. Generally, the ecologically sustainable solutions that are not only logistically possible but widely feasible are the ones that are agreed upon, but unfortunately, the decision makers are highly conservative and therefore tend to gradually move towards the more conservative aspects of decision - making.
The other points of contention that impacts these solutions are – over- fishing leading to loss of certain species and a disruption in the food chain, degradation of the quality of water due to climatic changes and revenue from tourism. For what is SD most appropriate and what might affect its use? When there are scores of stakeholders involved in a single business, it is imperative to incorporate SD into the business, so that all the stakeholders could make their contribution by voicing their own opinions and thereby removing the hurdles or hindrances that stand in their way.
Through SD, stakeholders could share their thoughts and ideas on sustainability of wild fish in relation to the available resources in the different aquatic environments thus boosting their businesses and making it a great success. The other key areas that could be affected in the course of SD are Sales, tourism, the quality of water and fish, the general health of the eco-system and productivity. What key issues do the various contributors in the literature raise about SD?
The Sydney fish market (SFM) is considered to be the second largest market in the world with regard to variety and is the largest market in the Southern hemisphere with an annual total sale of 99 . 3million. According to SFM stake holder’s dialogue, it recognizes the importance of sustainable fishing and also the detrimental effects it can have on unsustainable fishing. In their SD they proposed an urgent need to ensure that all contractors, employees, suppliers and local fishermen understand the importance of including the best practices into each and every activity within their business framework.
In their SD they emphasized the fact that since most consumers expressed their preference of fresh seafood to imported seafood, it was all the more important to maintain a very high standard of their quality of seafood. Are there any issues which might be crucial to the dialogue which you are about to undertake? Where Australia is concerned, even though it is the second largest in the world, the real fact is that 60% of the fish eaten in Australia is imported. This is a crucial point that could be raised through dialogue.

Once the problems are quite clear, counter strategies could be devised to get rid of them. This can be attained only through SD with the others in the group. As a managerial tool, SD seems indispensable for the fact that it is through SD that the Marine industry and the Fishery businesses are able to gain good impetus in the development and progress of all aspects in which the different stakeholders are involved.
SD as a management tool would also serve to be the backbone of the fishing industry because through SD people would come to know what strategies to implement that could help them increase production and what are the strategies that do not work out and which should be dropped.
For example if the quality of fish decreases, it could have an adverse impact on the business, therefore new strategies could be made use of such as the reduction of fishing. Though such a decision would greatly impact upon the incoming revenue and a decrease in the tourism industry, yet it would pay off in the long run.
Therefore SD could be utilized as a very important managerial tool. As a managerial tool SD helps to build trust, loyalty and honesty among all the different stakeholders.
