The information contained in the report revolves around four business journals, their contents and benefits to accountants and businessmen. It has also evaluated these journals in a way of extracting the message passed through these journals. The report was prepared on May 24th and finished on 27th May 2012. It was prepared through consultation, and research from various internet sources and internet libraries that provide a variety of material on accounting journals. The evaluation and analysis concludes by recommending on the best journals that the firm I am working for should subscribe to. The recommendations were based on the comprehensiveness of the journals evaluated. The purpose of this report is to evaluate business and accounting journals and come up with the best journals that are effective in passing business and accounting ideas. Respectfully yours, Name 2.0 Executive Summary This report covers a study or rather research done on four journals that firms usually subscribe to as a source of information. It covers Bloomerberg Businessweek magazine, New Accountant journal, Accounting today and Midland’s business journal. Bloomberg Businessweek magazine in United States of America (USA) and is usually accessed through paying a subscription fee of $20 yearly. It concentrates on the economic times, globally speaking, it also covers issues on technology, company reports, and the trends found in different industries (Bloomerberg Businessweek, 2012). New accountant magazine is another accounting magazine/journal useful to accountants, and to students that are taking certified public accounting (CPA). This magazine has given several valid tips to CPA students with the objective of helping them to study and pass their exams. There are various articles in this journal covering different topics and fields of work that are helpful to CPA students, and already certified accountants. Accounting today is another business/accounting journal. It looks into issues of client relationship management, and its significance. It is careful in looking into issues of retaining clients and attracting prospects into one’s business with the aim of increasing the sales volume as well as building a positive reputation that enhances customer retention (Accounting Today, 2012). Finally, Midland’s business journal looks onto issues of marketing or rather advertising, to be specific. People can post advertisements into this magazine at a fee. It also posts articles that can inspire entrepreneurs, and the public in general. There are several articles written by people like Leach Michelle covering new products like the Wes and Willy clothing maker, and its story of expansion. 3.0 Introduction Business, accounting journals and magazines give accounting practitioners the latest international and local news on business/accounting issues (Bloomerberg Businessweek, 2012). They also cover technological issues, industrial trends, policies being enforced by governments and profiles of companies. These journals are usually accessed through paying a subscription fee. These journals and magazines were accessed through various internet sources including a site known as online magazines, which provides a list of business journals (online magazines, 2010). Other journals were also accessed through the business pundit site, and they include Businessweek magazine (Business pundit, 2012). 4.0 Body Bloomberg Businessweek magazine is a known magazine based in United States of America, and is usually accessed through paying a subscription fee of $20 yearly. It concentrates on the latest news on economic times, globally speaking. It also covers issues on technology, company reports, and the trends found in different industries (Bloomerberg Businessweek, 2012). Through subscription to Bloomerberg, one can access features that are insights with deep stories that cover headlines offering a wide perspective concerning business issues like performance of leading companies like Apple, Dell and IBM. One can also be able to pursue the cultures of given businesses. Finally, one can also access global news on business policies, technology, and economics in a global perspective (Bloomerberg Businessweek, 2012). Bloomerberg Businessweek is a magazine with the tendency to show trends on performance of big companies in both the domestic and international market. It analyzes the movements and innovations leading to failure or success of given companies. In most cases, it ensures to make a comparison between the practices of well performing companies with contrast to the practices of poorly performing firms. Through this information, one is able to pursue important keys to successful organization management. This follows key success tips to change management, leadership style, communication in an organization and keys to employees’ motivation. For instance, Businessweek magazine has made a full evaluation on the ambitions, and already fulfilled ambitions of Google. It also shows the major controversial fights, and forms of competition for employees between Google, Motorola and Apple (Bloomerberg, Businessweek, 2012). It also gives insights on how businesses can copyright and patent their innovations to avoid theft of their copyrighted materials. New accountant magazine is another accounting magazine/journal useful to accountants, and students that are taking certified public accounting (CPA). It offers different subscription prices for different categories or rather classes of people. Seniors and students can subscribe at $35, libraries usually subscribe at $50, professionals subscribe at $85 and graduates subscribe at $ 38 (New accountant, 2012).This magazine has given several valid tips to CPA students with the objective of helping them to study and pass their exams. There are various articles in this journal covering different topics, and fields of work that are helpful to CPA students, and already certified accountants. For instance, Tom has written an article covering the key tips of passing a CPA exam (New accountant, 2012). He has mentioned about seven tips on passing a CPA exam. These include; getting help or support through contacting one’s instructor for answers to difficult questions; he also recommends on the techniques and tools on testing in an exam (New accountant, 2012). These include the strategies and tricks used by examiners in setting CPA exams. Learning these techniques are important for the sake of identifying task taking methods; in addition, it also talks about time allocation on topics, and how students should manage their time in studying for CPA. Moreover, the author also shows the importance of attending lectures, making flash cards, taking assignments, reading techniques, and making final reviews before doing an exam (New accountant, 2012). Moreover, there are also other insightful articles like the one written by Paul Holt on the issue of international accounting. Holt looks at the functions of accounting with the objective of giving his definition of an international accountant. He analyses financial accounting that requires one to analyze or rather keep records on various transactions that take place with an objective of preparation of financial statements that are normally included in the financial reports of a company (New Accountant, 2012). He also goes through the issue of financial analysis usually done by accountants. He analyses the various rules respected by financial accountants in United States while in the procedure of analyzing the company’s reports in the United States prior to declaring of performance of these companies with reference to the analysis made by the accounting professional (New Accountant, 2012). In addition, he goes through auditing issues covering both external and internal auditing practices. Paul talks about the reasons for learning about tax laws, culture and environments of businesses when analyzing financial statements of a company with subsidiary companies in foreign states regardless of the auditing exercise being an internal auditors’ exercise (New accountant, 2012). Accounting today is another business/accounting journal that was found to be relevant and useful to accountants and various companies where one can subscribe free. It looks into issues of the client relationship management, and its significance. This information is helpful in getting the significance of the media in accounting, and uncertainties that are associated with electronic accounting in the world today (Accounting Today, 2012). Midlands’s business journal is the fourth journal analyzed in this report. It looks onto issues of marketing or rather advertising to be specific. People can post advertisements into this magazine at a fee. It also posts articles that can inspire entrepreneurs and the public in general. There are several articles written by people like Leach Michelle covering new products like the Wes and Willy clothing maker, and its story of expansion. She also analysis the marketing strategy adopted by this company that led to its expansion to about 600-800 stores in the United States of America (Midlands business Journals, 2012). It also states various company profiles to assist people to identify great ingredients of forming and registering a company. In addition, it highlights several legal issues that bind the accountants and accounting firms in general. One can subscribe to this journal weekly or in a monthly basis. For 1 year, one pays a fee of $70. For 2 years one can subscribe at $125, and for 3 years, one can subscribe at $ 175. For the one published on a monthly basis- twice a month, one pays $53.50 yearly, $96.30 twice a year and $139.10 in 3 years (Midlands business Journals, 2012). 5.0 Recommendations Midland’s business journal, New Accountant and Accounting today are the best journals that would be recommended for the firm that I work for. The reason for choosing midland’s business journals is because my employer will be able to post advertisements in this magazine hence reducing cost on the high expenses incurred during event sponsorships, sales promotion and personal selling.
