The paper "Leadership Practices Inventory" is a great example of a management essay. As Kouzes and Posner (2003) state that, “ those who are the best at leading are also the best at learning” , it can be deduced that leadership practices inventory has gained roots in the contemporary organizations. From this quote, this approach of leadership is perceived as a quantifiable, learnable, and instructable position of conduct that enhances leadership success within any organization setting. It is considered to be a three hundred and sixty degrees leadership appraisal instrument that aids businesses and other institutions to quantify their guidance capabilities.

(Shamir, Dayan-Horesh, and Adler, 2005) It also embraces the concept of excellent leadership replica that was developed by Kouzes and Posner which was designed to a five practices that can handle managerial challenges faced by modern organization. The five practices comprise of; modeling the way whereby leaders should set up philosophies on how to care for customers and manage employees and how the set objectives can be attained. Therefore charismatic leaders should formulate principles and abide by those principles in order to act as role models for their juniors.

(Kouzes, and Posner, 2003) Leaders are also responsible for coming with interim objectives for their followers to achieve thus in the process attaining main goals. In essence, leaders should create chances for success. The second practice is that of leaders advocating for common vision within any organization setting. This involves; visualizing of the prospect and ensuring that the principles and exclusive reputation of an association is met. The third practice is that of leaders engaging themselves in looking for chances that will comprise of inventive means to enhance the performance within an organization.

Such practices aids in reducing risks and accepting failure as a way of learning process. (Kouzes, and Posner, 2007) The other practice is leaders should enable their followers to act; this implies that good leadership skills involves involving everyone in decision making process and encouraging project teams in order to motivate the followers for example employees within an organization. They should also respect their followers in order to attain exemplary returns. Another practice of vital importance to all leaders is give confidence to their followers through trying to build their anticipation and willpower.

Leaders should identify the efforts put in at personal level and in the process make their followers to believe that they are conquerors thus achieving results. (House, 2004) Therefore, leaders should try to create a good environment within an organization where those involve find it easy and enjoyable to undertake their responsibilities. The mentality that leaders are born should be done away completely with and instead embrace the concept that leaders are made within an organization setting through following the above practices.
