Since its invention tablet PC longevity was questioned by many since it was seen as being a cross between the traditional desktop computers and the notebook. Over the years this has really changed and it is commonly viewed as being an essential tool for people in almost all arenas of life. Tablet PCs can be great and most especially if someone is usually mobile. Appendix 1 and 2 clearly shows that the tablet PCs are in high demand and they will eventually overtake the sales of all other types of computers. Use of computer and the World Wide Web Computers are mainly used for three main purposes which includes the storage, retrieval and processing of data. When data and information is stored in a computer system that can be retrieved at any given time and they may be processed by the use of software’s so as to achieve the required results for example graphical representation of data (Mathews2003). Organizations have over time adopted the use of the World Wide Web in a range of their business activities. For instance companies are suing the web to communicate, inform, advertise and selling their products online. Benefits of tablets PC in an organization The use of tablet PC’s in organizations and businesses seems to be a common phenomenon in today’s business environment. A great number of employees are now buying their own tablets and integrating them into their daily activities or at a time connecting them to their organization's network with or without permission from the management team. The willingness to come with non-company assets in the organization is in a way prompting a great number of the organizations to consider offering their employees with tablets (Mathews 2003). Tablets PCs have a number of perceived benefits to organizations which include but are not limited to productivity, accessibility, compatibility, flat working surface and lighter than other computers and allow personalization of the inputs. Productivity The use of tablets usually ensures that more work is done as compared to the use of laptops and desktop computers. Mobile devices can in a way increase the mobility of the workers as well as their own productivity. The very essence that tablets are usually portable for instance it usually enables the workers to even work at home when on business trips, while commuting in the nontraditional work stations as well as when they are making visits to clients (Reed, Berque and Prey 2009). For example the American airlines have adopted tablets PCs and the flight attendants can be able to take orders, check the connecting flights. It has been found that a considerable percentage of the information that is required by workers is usually mobile, and it uses more devices and working also from multiple locations and making use of a number of applications. Tablets enable conducting of business easy since it can be used on the go. Tablet computers do not call for the same amount of time of space that is required by the traditional computers. Tablets can also be used in situations in places where laptops and regular computers cannot be used or where they are not practical (Reed, Berque and Prey 2009). Additionally the tablet usually makes it possible for employees in organizations share data sets, ideas, graphs as well as other types of information. This in a way improves the productivity of the business since with the sharing of information decisions are made inappropriate time (Mathews 2003). Some organizations have even gone ahead to incorporate tablets PCs as being part and parcel of their point of sale system. A tablet also makes it possible to accept debit and credit cards where there is cellular reception. Most tablets can be able to function as computers and the tablet can be used as a POS system to accept payments (Stevenson 2003). Based on that fact that the tablets can be able to accept debit and credit cards without specialized equipment or hardware and this makes it a very essential choice for a number of organizations. A great number of organizations are not able to see the benefits that are associated tablets in terms of the increased productivity. This is based on the fact that tablets usually improve the intangible assets in the organization for example fast identification of issues in the organization and communication (Reed, Berque and Prey 2009). The aspects of an improved level of productivity may not have any effect until after the tablets have been introduced into the organization. The tablets also play a great role in improving reporting and thus an increase in productivity. Tablets transform the organization since they are able to collect data and information more effectively and efficiently. This can be able to improve the productivity of workers almost three to five times. Employees in an organization who have tablets usually spend less time when finding data and information and also they spend more time when using the data and information (Mathews 2003). By these employees in organizations can be able to quickly access complete information for example shrinkage in inventory figures and this plays a great role in making decisions that tend to improve company efficiency. Accessibility Irrespective of the place where the business takes place one can be able to take the tablet PC. Notebooks can also be viewed as being portable and accessible but they seem to be heavier as compared to the tablets. Business organizations can make use of tablets of recording all their required information. Also during meeting employees can be able to take notes more quickly and easily rather than lugging around with an almost half dozen of notebooks. Tablets can also be used when one is in the car, in the field or even at places that seems to be far away from their offices of work (Reed, Berque & Prey 2009). The small size of tablets usually makes them to have an advantage over the other types of computers. In that one can be bale to work from different locations may it be when travelling and when in the house thus making the tablet PC more accessible. Thus in essence tablets seem to be more accessible than the other types of PC’S. Compatibility Compatibility seems to be the most common issue when it comes to replacing desktop or laptop computers with a tablet. The tablet PC’s dock usually has an SD slot and two USB ports. These seem to be very essential and convenient when it comes to the storage of data and information (Stevenson 2003). Tablet PCs also seem to be compatible with most programs thus making it to be more effective. The tablets also have a longer battery life and its capabilities are usually better than any other PC and as invention and advancement in technology increase the tablets will remain to be better than all other types of computers (Reed, Berque & Prey 2009). This aspect makes the tablet very easy to carry around and at the same time use it very frequently, intermittently and casually even in areas where not flat surface exists. The tablet PCs also seem to very good when it comes to consumption of information. The tablets are also compatible with other software applications and this ensures that developers are able to develop new ideas. The tablet is also compatible in that, it seems better when it comes to issues related to sharing of information as well as working in groups. The vertical screen does not have any perceived barriers; they also lack a distracting keyboard clatter. Lighter than other computers and allow personalization of the inputs The light weight of the tablets as compared to other types of computers is termed to as being the best advantage that tablets have over all the other computers. One can be able to take the tablet and be able to move from place to place. This makes it to be more mobile and one even feel comfortable with a tablet rather than with a computer (Stevenson 2003). Based on the fact that tablet PCs are functional and they are made so by the digital pen as well as the stylus gadget and an individual's writing is the inbuilt that becomes input. This usually enables the value addition and personalization of work based input that it is usually possible with a mouse or with a touch pad. Flat working surface The form factor as well as the convertible design features of the tablets usually enables it to be used when it is laid flat on the table or in the working area (Reed, Berque and Prey 2009). This very aspect usually facilitates personalized interactions with other people, better presentation and at the same time it has the ability to showcase duties to others in any form of work settings. Conclusion The discussion above clearly articulates that tablets PC have over time gained a lot of recognition and most people refer using them as compared to the desktop and laptop computers. This wide recognition and acceptance can be closely linked to the benefits that the tablets have over the desktop and laptop computers. Tablets seems to be more accessible as compared to the other devices since irrespective of the place that one is in one can still make good use of the tablet. Also in terms of productivity, tablets PCs usually improve the productivity of an organization through the intangible aspects such as communication. The tablets also seem to be compatible with almost all computers that are in the current market. When all the above benefits are added up the production that the tablets will over time become the most preferred and primary device for a great number of people in the globe.
