Introduction The field of management is slowly witnessing changes with widespread importance being given towards the development of communication skills so that the employees are able to better communicate and ensure proper development of the organization. This has increased the focus and made employees give greater emphasis on developing communication between employees, management and the customers in such a way that it ensures the entire process of communication is clear and helps the received of the message decode the message and understand it (Allen, 2001). The paper explores the manner in which an entire communication takes place and looks towards finding out the different barriers in communication which has to be effectively dealt with for the long term prospect of the organizations. The entire world has witnessed widespread development and growth in the manner the communication has developed and different tools to facilitate communication has been developed. Despite the development of communication tactics there has been little focus on dealing with the different barriers that communication process presents and has its importance in decisions making (Seplocha, 2008). The paper thereby explores the entire process through which effective communication takes place and the different barriers that the communication process has to deal with. Communication Process Communication process holds an important aspect to ensure that the entire message which has to be passed to the sender is sent correctly and the receiver of the message is able to decode the message and act accordingly (Palmatier, 2004). The manner in which management and employees communicates with each other helps to determine the different aspect of management which has to be laid emphasis on. The management has to be aware about it and should look towards ensuring that the process of communication will be completed only when the receiver of the message is able to act in the manner the sender of the message wants and will require that the person completely understands and decodes the message (Anne & Bochner, 2007). The importance of these increases as it is imperative that the tone of voice, body language and facial expression have an effect on the communication process (Anne & Bochner, 2007). This will help to ensure that the management is able to make the employees realize their objectives and provide the necessary resources through which the business will be able to achieve its objectives and ensure maximum efficiency (Palmatier, 2004). This will also ensure that the employees are able to understand the complete message and act in a manner which will ensure that the decisions taken by them are correct and ensure proper understanding. The entire process thereby looks to follow a series of steps where the sender of the message encodes the messages and sends it through a medium which could be either the phone or email or any other form of media. The receiver on receiving the message decodes the message and understands the message clearly (Sevari & Kandu, 2011). The receiver than acts on the message and if any clarification is required the sender of the message is contacted and the doubts gets resolved. Thus, the entire process of communication looks to follow a series of steps and can be considered complete only when the receiver of the message is able to act on it and provide the required feedback. Research in the same direction also highlights that employees who have understood the entire process of communication and ensures clarity have been able to achieve the objectives in the most efficient manner. This helps in the development of employees and ensures that overall effectiveness is gained. This helps to ensure that the entire process of communication is clear and the employees or the receiver is able to act in the best possible manner. This ensures that the resources are made the best possible use and provides a long term advantage based on which the organization can look towards the accomplishment of the goals (Palmatier, 2004). In addition it a research supports the fact that management which looks towards increasing communication skills are able to visualize the change as they are able to develop the required methods through which better achievement of the goals become possible. This becomes possible because following the required steps which are imperative in the communication process ensures that the information is correctly passed and interpreted which thereby ensures that the response from it is positive and helps in the best possible use of the resources (William & Stella, 2001). This increases the role of training as they will have to look towards developing a strategy through which the management and the employees are able to understand the different aspect of communication and act accordingly and will thereby ensure better communication. Lack of understading and clarity while communicating Communication helps organization to find out the relevant areas where the employees have to work and sharpen their skills so that the goals can be achieved in the most effective manner. Lack of skills on the part of the sender or the receiver in encoding or decoding the message will make the person act in a different way which will thereby result in a loss of resources as well as valuable time and money (Allen, 2001). This has stretched the work load on the employees and requires that people while communication has to understand the other person and should be able to decode the message completely. For example, the importance of time management is clearly evident in case of project based business where they have to look towards ensuring that the project is completed on time. Their survival in the industry and the profitability depends on it which makes it important that the proper time management skills are used to ensure maximum efficiency (Sevari & Kandu, 2011, p. 723). Having proper communication ensures that the management is able to find out the relevant areas of training which will help to provide the required push through which better control can be exercised. This would otherwise lead towards a situation where the person is unable to understand the message and act in a wrong manner which could lead towards financial loss for the business. Barriers due to Cultural Differences Another important area which communication helps to deal with is the manner in which people from diverse background has to be dealt with. Organizations look towards having a diverse workforce because leads towards ensuring that the resources are used in a better manner and helps the organization to work towards a common goal. Diversity in the workforce helps the organization to ensure that they have people from all culture and background. This thereby helps to ensure that there is adequate representation of all people from diverse culture (Oyler & Pryor, 2009). This helps the organization as it ensures that the organization is able to carry out their responsibilities in a better manner. The fact that different people have different traits and qualities and making all of those come together at a place increases the chances of the business being able to successfully ensure development on all fronts (Oyler & Pryor, 2009). This will create difficulties on the back drop that cultural differences will result in the message to be decoded in a different way. This will require that people look towards handling the cultural differences which is present and based on it look towards ensuring that the communication process is clearly identified and the communication process is complete. An example which can be seen in the same direction is witnessed in companies working on the global arena. To ensure diversity in the workforce global companies are seen to recruit people from the areas they are working i.e. recruiting the local people so that cultural integration can take place (Nicholas, 2003). This has helped the organization in ensuring that they are able to utilize the overall local qualities as well as use people from the global arena. This has given companies a push through which they have been able to develop their working process and alter the manner of working (William & Stella, 2001). Communication is the only way out as it will help to remove the differences by ensuring that the different culture is better understood and will help all people to come under a single umbrella and perform as a single unit. This will require that people understand the cultural differences and based on it look towards ensuring that the communication process becomes simpler and clearer so that the entire message is clearly understood and acted in the correct manner. Lack of Interpersonal Skills Communication has a vital role in determining the manner in which the organization is able to achieve its goals. This is primarily due to the fact that proper communication will ensure that both the employees and the organization is able to understand each other better and will help in working in the correct direction (Nicholas, 2003). This thereby requires that the process of communication also understands the manner in which interpersonal skills will play a role in determining the success of communication. Most communication fail due to the fact that people lack interpersonal skills which makes it difficult to understand each other especially the tone, body gestures and hand movements. This is thereby important that people look towards developing interpersonal skills as it will help to understand the other person better and will thereby ensure that the entire process of communication becomes better (Schermerhorn, Davidson, Poole, Simon, Woods & Chau 2011). Communication thereby acted as a major tool through which the business was able to transform the business and ensure that changes were done through which people who could deliver quality results were selected. Process to develop communication skills The management while looking to do so have to look towards designing a mechanism which focuses on providing the required expertise and ensuring that the requirements of the employees are understood. In addition to it the management can look towards having regular feedback sesion and meetings with the employees to develop the entire process. This will help in the effective development of the employees (Imahori & Lanigan, 2002). This will also ensure that the leadership skills are shaped and the employee based on it is able to deliver superior performance which will help to provide the required growth dimension and ensure maximum efficiency for the entire world fraternity. This all has become possible only because of the fact that proper communication ensures in the development of the employees and the success of the organization (Imahori & Lanigan, 2002). The importance of using communication skills can be understood by the fact that it will help to chalk out the required plan based on which necessary development and things have to be taught to the employees which will enrich the experience of the employees and enable the overall learning process to be better shaped. This will help the employees to understand the requirements of the different aspect which will help to deliver superior performance and will shape the entire process through which the employees is able to shoulder better responsibilities and act as a leader (Anne & Bochner, 2007). This phase is the most critical as it helps to ensure back and forth interactions as the management who has a major role in changing the life of a employees is able to develop the skills through which better results and delivery of high standards can be achieved. This increases the role of training as they have to look towards developing the required fundamentals through which better techniques can be taught and will thereby help to bring about changes and ensure better response (Allen, 2001). Conclusion The paper highlights the different leadership traits which management needs to focus so that the employees are able to provide better services and ensure development of the organizaton. The management has to look towards identifying the different directions through which communication process is completed. This will help to improve the overall effectiveness and bring the required changes in the behavior of the staff through which enhanced performance can be delivered (Imahori & Lanigan, 2002). In addition to it the management has to deal with the barriers and develop a process through which effective communication takes place and the entire organization is able to gain effectiveness.
