The figures were not surprising as both the areas are different and have different section of the population dominating the region due to which the wide differences between them arises. The difference also exist due to the fact the different regions have different habitat making the figures to vary among the population. Question 4 The Diversity Council of Australia has highlighted different benefits which workforce diversity presents and helps to improve the manner in which the entire process of working is carried out in the organization. This helps to highlight the following benefits Better Productivity: Having an organizational culture where people from different backgrounds and culture come together help in the integration of culture and being able to remove the differences that exist between the culture ensures that the productivity is better. This even helps the business to work on various projects which otherwise would not have been possible. Increased Employee Satisfaction: Ensuring that the organization looks towards cultural integration helps to remove the differences that exist between the employees and unite them. This helps to ensure that the human skills are put to better use and thereby ensure increased employee satisfaction which gets reflected in the work. Reduces employee turnover: Removing the cultural differences and ensuring integration of culture ensures that the employees feel a part of the organization. This makes the employee work with all the efforts towards a common goal. This thereby helps to ensure that the employees’ turnover rate reduces and ensure better preparation for the future roles. Helps to employee talented employees: Having a cultural mix and removal of cultural differences helps the organization to ensure that employees from all sections of the society are attracted. This makes the employee feel contend and helps in attracting fresh talent from diverse background and field which helps to improve productivity for the organization. Question 5 I look towards being part of the organization and work together with all other members as working together helps in better achievement of the goals. I also ensure that me ego doesn’t come in my work and decisions are taken after consultation with all the members and the best one among them is picked. Further, I look towards listening to other people and ensure cordial relation with all. I also have team management skills and have the required skills to be part of the organization so that I am able to contribute positively towards the organization. I also look towards ensuring that the task assigned is completed before time by starting accordingly and keeping some buffer to help in case of emergencies. I have an attitude where working with people from all culture helps to bring the best out of me and being able to reflect the same in my culture ensures better coordination of all the activities and thereby ensure better goals achievement. The different skills which I have will work in the interest of the company and will ensure that I am able to transform and contribute positively towards the growth of the organization. Part B Question 1 The questions that were asked to the manager of the Chinese restaurant named Yo China in relation to diversity in the workforce is as follows How do you handle the change in culture that exist between China and Australia on a whole? How do you handle the diversity in workforce due to the fact that it’s a Chinese restaurant and the local people hired here belong to Australia? What are the problems that you have experienced due to diversity in workforce due to the fact that people belong to different culture? Does the restaurant have any training program to remove the differences within the work culture? What training programs do you intend to use in this aspect? How did you deal with the problems that arose between the employed due to different cultural background? Has the difference in cultural background benefitted you? In what ways have the difference in culture benefitted you or not benefitted you? What advice would you give people to handle the diversity which exist in the workforce? Question 2 The manager of the restaurant highlighted various important information which will help to understand the mechanism through which the restaurant has been able to grow. The findings suggest that the restaurant faced problem due to difference in the culture at the beginning. This was encountered both with the customers and the employees. The restaurant instead of looking to run away from this factors looked towards developing different training programs which helped to understand the culture of both the country. The restaurant used a policy where they concentrated on building healthy relationship by ensuring that the cultural mix which existed in the organization was given an opportunity to speak. To add on to it even customers advice were taken. This impacted the morale of the employees and united the entire workforce to work together and removed the differences that existed between the workforces. This helped the restaurant to unite and work together and helped in positive use of the resources. This has also helped them to reduce the wastages and ensured that there was better productivity. The manager also advised that being able to develop a training program and motivating the employees helps to remove the cultural differences which thereby contributes positively towards the growth of organizations. Question 3 Employees are a vital part for the organization and it is the duty of the management to ensure that a proper employee management chart is prepared so that the policies applicable on the staff can be properly understood. The following is the policy requirements for the employees The foremost important policy for the employees is to ensure that the required documents pertaining to the employees is gathered and filed for future references. It is also important to ensure that the employees undergo the training and induction program so that the employee becomes aware about the surroundings and nature of work. Further, it is important that the organization look towards having working hours as per the requirements of the law and proper facilities and medication facilities are provided. Along with it the safety aspect of the employees needs to be looked into and a strategy developed which will help to counter the rising casualties and solve the employees’ problems. Along with it the management has to ensure that the legal requirements according to the law are maintained. This will help to ensure effective management of the employees and will also guide the employees to work better. In addition the management has to look towards developing an effective workplace where there is cultural integration and the entire workforce looks to be satisfied and happy and work towards the growth and development of all as having the basic infrastructure will help to deliver quality workplace environment. Question 4. Part A The customer service procedure is very important as it helps to increase customer satisfaction which thereby transforms into better services for the customers and helps the organization to render better services. To ensure better customer services the following series of procedures will be helpful Greet the customer by welcoming him and ensure that customer has a good first impression Ask the customer about his requirements and present the customer with the goods or services he is looking for Ensure that the customer finds a person of a similar culture dealing with him and also demonstrate the presence of other employees from different culture so that the customers feel satisfied. This will help to ensure that the customer doesn’t feel alone and will find the services that is rendered to him matches his taste Ensure regular talks with the customer to ensure that his interest evokes and present the different products in a manner that the customer looks satisfied Ensure that the queries of the customers are sorted and even after completing the sales process after sale services are provided which makes the customer happy and visit the place again and again. Ensure a proper and cordial relation and atmosphere where the customer gets the product and services he is looking at and this will help to multiply the satisfaction level and ensure that the customers looks for the same organization again and again for better services Question 4. Part B To ensure that the staff understands the important of having en effective workplace where there is cultural integration and a procedure for customer satisfaction it is important to clearly demonstrate the same to the employees. The foremost important thing here is to make the employees understand the manner in which the changes will benefit them both in personal and professional life. Along with it the management has to ensure that they effectively depict the employees the manner in which the changes will facilitate them for advancement in carrier and will also brighten their future prospects for tougher roles. To ensure the smooth transformation it is important that the required training is provided to the employees. For this the management has to look for both off the job and on the job training so that employees are able to visualize the changes in actual practice. This will also help them to understand the manner in which the changes will benefit them and based on it will be able to make key changes in the manner in which the work culture needs to be changed. This will help to understand the manner in which the business will be able to gain effectiveness and ensure that the training program provides them the skills to deal with it. Question 5 Dealing with diversity in workforce is a vital issue for management as being unable to deal with it could de-motivate the employees and would make it difficult for the employees to accomplish the task in hand. To ensure that the problem is dealt and understood by the employees it is important to make them understand the manner in which workforce diversity will benefit them. I will look towards making the employees understand the benefit of workforce diversity and present before them different scenarios where they have looked towards improving the workforce diversity. Even giving them an opportunity to work on similar situations where different people from different culture is required will help them understand the importance of diversity in workforce and will help them to deal with the situation in the most effective manner. Scenario 1 Intervention Both the team members need to understand the fact that the party has been organized because of the fact that the team members worked together by removing the differences which helped them to accomplish the work. The success of the project was entirely due to the entire efforts of all the members. This requires that both the members instead of fighting on the food should look towards adjusting and having meals they feel comfortable. The management has to ensure that the different type of food is served keeping in view the larger section of the members. The team can arrange for a strategy where the food belonging to every section of the population is served. The management should ensure that they have different cultures where the food is served and if the employees adjust to the situation this will help to remove the differences that exist between them and will ensure that the party goes smoothly. Prevention To ensure that such a situation doesn’t arise the management has to look towards taking steps in this direction. This can be done by ensuring that the management looks towards serving all kinds of food. To ensure satisfaction of all members it is essential that the management looks towards developing different tables for different section of the members so that food according to their preference can serve. This will help all the members to ensure that they get the food belonging to their taste and will also help to remove their differences as all the section will get the required food and will not help to create the cultural differences which would otherwise crop up due to different fooding habits. Scenario 2 Intervention In this situation the best alternative would be to divert the attention of all the members including the collegue to something else. This will help to bring the required diversion and make people talk about something else. This will also ensure that the colleague concentration is diverted and the secret regarding the client is not revealed. Further, in this aspect I would also look towards making the members talk on some other topic and try to divert their attention from this point. This will make the employees understand the situation and garnering the efforts to ensure a change in outlook will help positively and divert the attention which will thereby change the topic of discussion. Prevention To ensure that such a situation doesn’t arise I would look towards ensuring that such a topic of discussion do not arise. I will look towards ensuring that the members are told in advance that such topics which are sensitive and could hurt others feelings is avoided. I will also try to persuade the other members to understand the reason for people indulging in such relationship and keeping the feeling of each person above remove the differences that exists. This will help to build the fundamentals and remove the differences between the group members and will thereby ensure that such topics are not spoken in public which will help to guard the feelings of other people present at that time.
