On account of globalization, organizations have witnessed an increase in ethnic diversity that has given rise to a number of factors and challenges in terms of management and workforce composition. When a multicultural workforce was not in place organizations relied on, hired, and worked with teams that were homogeneous in nature – small, large, or even extra-large teams drawn from a local or domestic population. This was a typical employer/organization-employee relationship since more often than not both belonged to the same ethnic group, shared the same ideals, and possibly worked with each other throughout life. The present scenario, however, is entirely different since teams hail from diverse backgrounds, ages, and gender, educational and functional backgrounds than ever before. This diversity or multiculturalism, as is now called, has exerted strange pressures on either side and more importantly on managers; a factor that has led many companies like Shell, Siemens and IBM formulate their diversity policies in order to be able to safeguard and address the interests of their employees – be the same on work or wellbeing front – and provide support to management to handle the diverse workforce. The diversity policies serve the twin purpose of fulfilling the moral duty of representing a specific workgroup from given demography and help the organization stimulate creativity by showing consideration towards several ethnic groups. Below is the figure demonstrating the model of culture fit based on Aycan, Sinha, and Kanungo (1999):

The major analysis of this study was an analysis of outcomes like that on behavior, and performance in organizations which are having a multicultural workforce.
