This organization can be considered as one of the leading employers within the global automobile industry. According to the annual report (2013), the company has 219,000 employees all over the world. In 2013, the company generated $155.43b of revenues from the world, which increased by 2% (Annual report, 2013). In addition to this, the organization has a strong presence in the global markets places. However, its net profit decreased by 22% to $3.77b during the same period. It is important for an organization to adopt and implement effective strategies in the business operation process in order to gain potential competitive advantages and maintain its constant business growth rate in the global marketplace.

Recently, the sales growth rate of General Motors has been reduced due to several external and internal business operation challenges (Wright, 2013). Intense market competition in global markets places is making it difficult for General Motors to maintain its competitive position in the global marketplace. In addition to this, several internal conflicts are affecting the overall business operation process of the organization (Kahan and Rock, 2011). Demand for fuel-efficient and green cars is significantly increasing among the target customers.

General Motors adopted a unique business operation strategy in different countries to develop, promote and offer vehicles under several leading global brands. It actually increases the quality and efficiency of the vehicles. Therefore, it can be stated that intense market competition and changes in market demand are creating several critical challenges for the organization. On the other hand, the organization is trying to develop and implement unique strategies in the global business operation activities to enhance the effective business growth rate and overcome possible challenges (Guilford, 2011).

Adoption and implementation of these strategies influenced the analysis of the competitiveness and position of the organization within the global automobile industry.
