Based in the United States of America, the company specializes in the manufacture and sale of computer electronics and personal computers for purposes such as education and business. The company has various strategies that help it in maintaining its position as one of the best global companies in the production of personal computers.
Consequently, it is able to outdo the industry competitors such as Dell, Lenovo, Sony and Compaq. The development of strategic choices by Apple Inc stems from the need to be able to compete efficiently with the industry competitors as well as to establish an outstanding brand. One of the strategic choices that Apple Incorporation has for sustainable growth is the organization culture (Thacher, Schildhorn, Patterson & Nagaraj, 2013, p. 5-20). The culture of an organization plays an important role in determining its success in the highly competitive global market (Schein, 2016, p.
81). The organization culture of Apple aids the company in achieving its desired goals in different ways. First, the company gives much consideration to efficient management, especially leadership. Consequently, the organization is capable of achieving a smooth and stable development over time. Additionally, strict management procedures help the company in adhering to both internal and external regulations, effective decision making and thus organizational development. Organizational success depends on the levels of skill and satisfaction of the employees.
According to Nayar (2010, p. 17-47), the employees of an organization determine the success of the organization. Apple understands the contribution of employees in its success and ensures that it hires highly skilled employees. The highly developed skills and integration of the employees in Apple enable the company to be one of the successful innovators in the global market. Arthur (2012, p. 115) argues that the evidence of the highly innovative capability of Apple are the iPhones, iPads and the various types of Apple watch that dominate different segments of the market.
Furthermore, the organizational culture allows the employees to discover their skills and physical abilities, giving them room to improve themselves. Another strategic choice of the company for sustainable growth is diversification. Knecht (2014, p. 1-47) describes business diversification as an organizational strategy in which the organization enters into a new market separate from the one for which it was established. The entry into new markets by businesses is commonly accompanied by the creation of new products for the market. Businesses explore various markets to avoid the adverse consequences of a single operation. Apple has long applied the diversification strategy to help in expanding its operations to other industries (Hall, 2015, p.
1-2). The company, which was initially founded to manufacture and sell personal computers for various purposes, has expanded to other areas of operation such as the mobile telephone industry and the player industry. The development of such products as iPads and iPhones, for instance, made people who were not originally Apple’ s customer to buy their products (Raboch, Wang & Wu, 2009). Apart from earning revenue to the firm, the diversification strategy helps in getting several people to be in touch with the firm, enabling them to consider purchasing the Apple computers.
