Organizational change project Organizational change is a necessary process to solving problems that might face the entity at a time in its life. Sucha change may assume any of the available approaches and is bound to face challenges such as resistance from top managers, due to uncertainty. I, in this paper,, explore a case study on Simmons to analyze change management concepts. The case involves an organization that has a long history in its existence and has been succecfull in its initiatives.

Having been founded as a small scale organization, Simmons expanded to become a multimillion organization with employees and markets in foreign countries. The organiation’s policy that relies on its history has however guided its decisions and led to its sustainable growth and its stability in the primary product. I is however facing a mojor challenge under Eitel’s management and a drastic decision is necessary for saving the company from collapse. The clients, who have been contributing to about 20 percent of the company’s sales have been declared bankrapt and the company is at the same time susceptible to the wide spread economic recession besides adverse effects of the September 11 attacks.

A number of the organization’s product are also defective from poor supplies. Eitel however wants to implement a social change program that has just been tested at a plant but is expensive and the partners would prefer their conservative approach. Facts of the case identifies two challenges that the organization is facing. the primary challenge is the economic and commercial condition that the company has found itself in and the second challenge is determination of the most appropriate strategy to saving the company from collapse.

Three factors put the company at the brink of economic collapse. the recession has reduced consumers’ purchasing power and has therefore undermined Simmons sales level and revenues. The terrorist attack has also undermined investors confidence at different levels of the organization’s supply chain. Similarly, poor quality materials have also led to products with bad smell and could hamper consumers’ attitude towards the organization. The challenge with the appropriate corrective measure however arises from the involved high cost as a time when the organization is financially strained and the fact that stakeholders are not confident about the proposed cultural change approach.
