Typical Job Duties: Observe and provide overall care to the patients on hospital wards and in the outpatient clinic such as analyzing patient’ s symptoms and the ordering exploratory tests, drug administration, carry out the overall health checks before surgery, making any needed changes to the patient’ s treatment regime and checking the improvement. Undertake patient consultations and physical check-ups. Responding to health issues or complications presented by the patients such as diagnosis, treatment, history taking and referral as required. Provide general pre-care and post-operative care and monitor and oversee treatment and intravenous infusions. Coordinate daily with the medical or non-medical staff including the other doctors and the healthcare specialists. Prioritize health problems and intervene properly to support the patient in urgent, complex or emergency conditions, including the instigation of effective emergency care. Admit the patients who require special care and further investigations and the treatment of the patient. Identify patient care requirements by establishing personal support with the potential and real patients and other people who are in a position to understand the medical care requirements. Promote patient's individuality by establishing patient care objectives, educating the patient, families and the friends to understand the condition, self-care skills, and medications. Answering questions about the health condition of a patient which may arise from the families, friends and other concerned parties such as the medical personnel and nonmedical personnel. Assure quality care by observing to therapeutic standards, measuring health results against patient care objectives and standards, making or recommending required amendments, observing hospital and nursing divisions beliefs and standards of care laid down by the state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other major agency regulations. Maintain supportive relationships among the health care members by communicating the information, responding to the demands, participating in team problem-solving techniques and building support. Physical Requirements: Should be physically fit and in good mental condition.

They should be able to stand, walk and work in highly demanding conditions.

Should be able to work for long hours and be able to respond quickly whenever called upon during an emergency or critical cases. Working Conditions: Highly stressful which involves emergency scenarios at very short notice. Working for long hours, and the doctors could be willing to work any shift during the day or at night, on weekdays or over the weekends. Reporting: Should report to the hospital administrator and any other relevant hospital administration. Qualification required: Should have a degree in medicine from a recognized university. A master’ s degree in medical science will be an added advantage. Should have a certificate of completion in medical training in the foundation program. Should have a license from the medical professional association. Skills required: Should be able to maintain brief, accurate and timely confidential records of the patients. Ability to solve complex problems. Should be able to communicate effectively when discussing complex medical intervention. Good time management skills to balance between the medical and the administrative obligations. Ability and willingness to work for long hours. Ability to work under tight pressure. Effective decision-making skills.
