Broadband Facilities and Expansion of the Existing Hospital and Nursing Programs in Prowers How Can Broadband Facilitate the Expansion of the Existing Hospital and Nursing Programs to attract both retirees and young people to Prowers? Technology has its impact on everything in life. No one is unaffected by the benefits technology. With the introduction of broadband technology the internet has become cheaper and faster. It has become so reliable that every institution relies on it for data accuracy, storage and sharing.

Hospitals are no exception. They use broadband to generate patient history, their credit history and to send data to other doctors for convenient and faster sharing. Powers County has seen an increase among young people and retirees to move to this region. Broadband technology is facilitating the expansion of existing hospitals and nursing programs and powers County. This is good news for people both residing in this region and living in the nearby states. There has been an uptick in healthcare market in Powers.

The increasing amount has naturally generated more nursing jobs between 2000 and 2012. In 2000, there were about 14,000 people residing in the county (American Fact Finder, 2014). The more important things on the job in the performance of these hospitals. These hospitals are running under efficient management and supervision. The records of mortality suggest and improved performance by the Powers County compared to Colorado average. Infant deaths per 1000 live births data speaks about his performance; 1990 1991 92 93 94 95 96 97 98 99 2000 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 Powers County Colorado average Infant deaths per 1000 live births data1 Clearly there have been drastic ups and downs in his performance but since 2003, there has been a significant decline in this mortality rate of infants.

According to statistics the powers County government finances in 2002 indicated a downward trend. The federal government health and hospitals generated revenue of $200,000 in 2002 (City-Data, 2012). It is hard to analyze hospital data regarding the impact, or the services are provided for the people. For instance, the statistics state that there were three people in wards in general hospitals for homeless patients while, in 2010, 26 people were living in group homes made for adults (City-Data, 2012).

There is no direct evaluation between the two, but it is still indicative of improvement in hospitals. According to the website city-data.com, there has been a significant shift in nursing homes and Powers County, Colorado between 2000 and 2012. The website indicates that there were 100 people in nursing homes in 2000 in group quarters and Powers County. While in 2010 87 people residing in nursing facilities (City-Data, 2012). When must take into consideration the increase in population. The county population in 2012 was 12,389 compared to 14,483 in 2000.

Interestingly the county had more owner occupied condos and houses in 2000 compared to 2010 (City-Data, 2012). The drop in December significant as there were 3511 houses and condos in 2000 which dropped to 1387 in 2010. About 61% workers earn private salaries or wages while 24% serve in the government (City-Data, 2012). The average gross adjusted income for non-migrant taxpayers and powers County in 2005 was $36,095. A deeper analysis reveals that in powers County the average adjusted gross income was 5.

59% while the Colorado average was 10.77%. Population growth and powers County2 1900 1910 1920 1930 1940 1950 1960 1970 1980 1990 2000 2011 Powers County Colorado average The decrease in population is only a problem when it is so significant that is not enough to run the city government and the projects plan for a bigger population. In the case of powers County the drop in population is not so large which eventually helps its administration and products.

There are fewer people to manage consuming fewer resources that help in providing better facilities for the people that are living in powers County. By using broadband technology, it is easier for nurses to research, for doctors to assure patient history, and validate and cross-examine it with other hospitals. It is not only convenient for the staff to do tasks in minimum amount of time. It also reduces errors and saves precious time for the patients. From the discussion of this paper, it is evident that the population of powers County is decreasing in comparison with Colorado.

However, the changes such as introducing broadband technology in hospitals and nursing facilities this trend can be reversed. It has also been observed that with improved efficiency in hospitals there is an increase in the nursing jobs and improved effectiveness and management in areas such as controlling infant mortality. Powers County can use this trend for its advantage in attracting young talent as well as retirees to this region. References American Fact Finder (2014) Community Facts. United States Census Bureau.
