After series of sorting and filtering of profiles, the interviewer has found an India based Information Technology (IT) Company named as Lozingle Technology Solution ( is performing in innovative manner when it comes to social media marketing.

Lozingle Technology Solution is an India based IT Company specializes in Website design, Graphic design and Search Engine Optimization. The company provides IT solutions to local as well international clients. It has been found that social media marketer of Lozingle Technology Solution is performing series of social media marketing activities to promote service offering of the company such as blog writing in social media pages, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), posting advertisements in social media pages, publishing tweets, YouTube marketing and others.

Upon dipper investigation, it has been revealed that Mr. Milon Paroi (social media marketer in Lozingle Technology Solution) is the person who is shaping social media marketing of his company. Mr. Milon Paroi has completed his bachelor’s degree from a reputed university in India. After doing graduation, he had completed 3 year degree in ‘software engineering and digital marketing analytics’. For last 1 year, Milon Paroi has been associated with Lozingle Technology Solution and he has total work experience as a social media marketer for more than 3 years.

In this study, the interviewer will interact with a social media marketer who has years of experience in handling national as well as international projects. Therefore, it is being the expected or hoped by the interviewer to learn three things, 1- how social media marketers are using social media as important part of advertising, 2- understanding how social media marketing is helping the marketer to drive business success for the company and 3- gaining real life business insights beyond theories learned from online classes.

Transcript of the Interview Question 1: What is the purpose of social media in your view? Answer: social media is not just another channel for advertising. Purpose of social media includes creating identity of the brand, making interactive conversation with target audience, creating an interactive dialog with customers, strengthening online presence of the company, increasing reputation of the brand among customers and other stakeholders and sharing contents and company information with customers. From marketing perspective, engaging target customers and creating an interactive dialog with customers are the two prime objectives of social media marketing.

Question 2: Why do you think that social media can be a useful part of advertising? Answer: A website works on online platform and without social media marketing; it becomes difficult for marketers to increase reach, online visibility of the website, increase frequency of ‘Hit’ or increase ‘Click Through Rate’. By using social media marketing, marketers can increase real time effectiveness and interactivity of the advertisement. Question 3: What factors do you consider while preparing social media posts? Answer: content of the social media marketing, target audience, frequency of blog post, social media promotional schedule, relevance of company news among target audience and placement positioning of the product portfolio of the company.

Question 4: How can social media posts initiate interactive dialog with your customers? Answer: by posting relevant news, answering quarries of customers, publishing blog related to area of interest of customers, placing first party or third party Cookies and others. Analyzing the customer demand helps the marketer to optimize the content sharing strategy so that social media dialogue can be initiated. Question 5: What are the perceived benefits of social media posts? Answer: companies perceive that social media posts can generate immediate leads or potential customers who are ready to pay for the product being offered by the company.

It is also being perceived that social media posts can instantly generate or increase brand awareness and social media posts can provide immediate return on investments. Question 6: What are the actual benefits that you have gained from social media posts? Answer: awareness regarding the offering of the brand gets increased, traffic to website gets increased, frequency of conversations with customers gets increased, customer confusion can be resolved, targeted marketing activities can be shaped, positioning of the products/services gets strengthened, Bounce Rate can be decreased, Click Through Rate gets increased, customer reach gets increased and chance of product selling also gets increased.

Question 7: Are you able to reach your target population through social media posts? Answer: being a social media marketer myself, I have to admit the fact that it is very difficult to get 100% success in reaching the target market through social media posts.

Due to personal viewpoint, frequency of social media usage and expectation of individual customers, it is not possible to the entire target population through social media posts. However, I get at least 80% success when it comes reach target population through social media posts. Question 8: What is the effect of social media posts on return on investment? Answer: that is a difficult question because there is hardly any social media marketing technique that can ensure 100% or more return on investment through social media posts.

Social media posts are positively impact return on investment in three way manner such as, 1- it strengthens the online positioning of the brand and helps customers to get more information regarding the brand, greater information increases robustness of purchase decision making process of customers and 3- through viral marketing and free content sharing, interactive advertisement of the products/services of Lozingle Technology Solution gets done in low cost manner. Question 9: How often do you post news on social media? Answer: it depends on the nature of social media platform we are using.

At least, 3 company news, pictures of the product are being weekly posted on Facebook page. 4 blogs are being posted every week while tweets are being done on regular basis. Ad word sharing, google+ contact simulations are also being used regularly. Question 10: What do you do to make your social media post more attention drawing? Answer: in order to make sure social media posts are more attention drawing, range of techniques are used such as power point presentation (PPT) sharing, YouTube video promotion, blog syndicate, RSS feed generation, creating groups in social media pages and community information sharing.

Conclusion It is evident from the above transcript of the interview that social media posts and other social media marketing is a low cost marketing technique increase awareness of the brand. Before conducting the interview, it was expected by the interviewer to understand functionality of social media being part of advertising. After completion of the interview, the interviewer has not only learned social media jargons but understood functionality of social media being part of advertising.

It was expected to get clear idea about how social media marketing is helping the marketer to drive business success for the company and the interviewer got a realistic answer from the interviewee. For example, it was expected that social media posts and social media marketing ensure 100% return on investment but after interviewing Mr. Milon Paroi, it was learned that such assumption is not true. Subsequently, as expected, the interviewer got real life business insights beyond theories learned in online classes by interviewing Mr.

Milon Paroi. Lessons that are learned by interviewing the social media marketer can be summarized as, 1- creating an interactive dialog with customers is key objective of social media, 2- without social media marketing, it becomes difficult for marketers to increase online visibility of the website, 3- engaging target audience is the most important factor for social media posts, 4- social media marketing should be performed on daily basis, 5- social media marketing or social media posts do not ensure 100% return on investment and 6- there is gap exist between perceived and actusl benefit of social media posts.

Reflection By conducting the interview, I (the interviewer) have learned that one has to become practical regarding expectations from social media marketing and social media posts. Respected interviewee used lot of jargons and honestly, I did not know the meaning of most of these jargons. Therefore, in order to understand social media marketing in depth manner, I need to learn lot of theories and go through plenty of real world business cases. From personal perspective, I have learned plenty of useful learnings such as how to manage time, how to talk with a person who has years of corporate experience, how to address questions in unbiased manner and how to increase dedication level to achieve certain objectives.

From professional perspectives, I have also learned plenty of useful learnings such as increase in understanding of functionality of social media marketing, gaining knowledge of professional ethics and understanding problem solving approch of professional social media marketer. Such learnings will not only improve my understanding of social media marketing and social media posts but also improve my professional efficiency as a future social media marketer.
