It ensures continuation of the market by guaranteeing its economic growth. 2. It enables the company to incorporate newer technology, innovation and safety measures in the later versions of the product. 3. Consumers’ changing demands are satisfied. Products Prepare by Planned Obsolescence 1. Computer softwares are prepared under planned obsolescence as they are continuously being updated and their versions change quite often. 2. Ink cartridges are made to fail early as they end up real soon when the ink comes down to a certain level and even if there is still some ink left in the cartridge.

The smart chips embedded in the cartridges prevent us from using the ink till its last drop and even prevents us from refilling it. 3. Textbooks are also made according to planned obsolescence as we find different volumes of a book where each volume has the same content but shifted to different pages than the previous volume. This makes it impossible for a student to use an older volume when the rest of the class id following a newer one. Disadvantages of Planned Obsolescence 1. Continuously producing and wasting increases the environmental pollution as more waste is dumped in the surroundings. 2. Consumer spending is increased. 3. More resources are required to produce more products which is a problem for the firm’s budget.
