The business environment has undergone tremendous changes to incorporate employees with different levels of training. Complexity in business trends is also a necessary requirement to keep up to date with the increasing competitiveness in the business field (Cowton & Haase, 2008). Enormous opportunities have been realized with the changing trends (Hugar, 2001). This has been as a result of improved understanding of the contemporary organizational configurations. Intense research has been conducted to facilitate the evolution of business trends. Specific modes of working are considered to try to come up with the best practices to accelerate demand and faster delivery of services (Hugar, 2001).

Education has been the key factor and accelerator behind the changing trends in business (Gitman & McDaniel, 2009). Initially, business requirements were minimal as there was minimal competition. However, with the advancement of the modern age and specifically in the technological field, it has become a mandatory requirement for managers and other personalities in the business field to advance in education. This has also been facilitated by the increasing competition and lack of business opportunities for many as well as demographics (Cowton & Haase, 2008).

There has been a series of changes in business trends. The first generation was referred to as the traditional age, which existed from nineteen forty-six. Workers who valued trustworthiness and were much disciplined characterized this generation of business. This generation of workers reserved a lot of respect for authority and hierarchy. They were industrious and played key roles in their respective companies diligently (Gitman & McDaniel, 2009).

The next generation of workers came in the period of years after nineteen forty-six to nineteen sixty (Hugar, 2001). During this period, the European countries were experiencing a lot of technological progress, which accelerated the desire for success. This period, also the period of baby boomers was composed of workers who held higher positions in their corporate worlds (Hugar, 2001). History indicates that this was the period more people became workaholics (Gitman & McDaniel, 2009).

Baby boomer generation later gave birth to another generation of workers called; generation X. generation X existed between the years nineteen sixty-one and nineteen seventy-nine (Gitman & McDaniel, 2009). Workers in generation X had better academic qualifications as well as international working experience and research (Gitman & McDaniel, 2009). This generation of workers seemed not to agree to the working ethics upheld by the earlier generations, especially the traditional age bracket. They advocated for work ethics that were more flexible. They even sort to do way with the hierarchical working structures. Generation X has blended many entrepreneurs with many people venturing into self-employment with a very strong desire to steer themselves into achieving large business empires (Gitman & McDaniel, 2009). 

Generation Y emerged after generation X, starting from the year nineteen eighty (Gitman & McDaniel, 2009). This generation has been able to incorporate technology in business more than any other generation preceding (Gitman & McDaniel, 2009).  They are paralyzed by technology and would do practically nothing without it.  They have been brought up lavishly in an improved world with all state of the art equipment. However, this generation is very idiosyncratic and has commanded autonomy in views and character (Cowton & Haase, 2008). The generation puts more emphasis on personal activities above-market considerations and requirements.
