That is because of the dynamic nature of society and the never-ending need for change, surprises, and improvement. Operations management is the term used to describe the use of the most effective business practices for efficiency in the operations of a business. Operations management is multidisciplinary and it is involved in the planning, organization, and supervision of activities related to production, manufacture and the subsequent provision of services to their customers.

The role of the operation management department within an organization is to ensure that the inputs and outputs of an organization are turned in an efficient manner. The company inputs are a variety and they include vary from human resources, technology equipment, and materials. Literature Review: Newness Viewed through the Lens of Operations Management There is a recent development in the role of enterprises whereby the sustainability and innovation of an enterprise are core strategies of the enterprise.

There is a rise in the popularity of enterprise development through innovations in the solution of different issues that arise within the organization. Innovation and newness are an integral part of most companies with the purpose of competitiveness and sustainability. The literature review focuses on Brazilian enterprises, three of them. The changing demands come from not only the customers but also the shareholders. There is a demand for the upgrade of company operations to incorporate the economic, social, and environmental operations that connect to the global supply chains.

For the sustainability of the interest in such products and services, the businesses must present them as if they were new with each presentation. That is because the stagnation of business operations results in boredom and also a slow turn when it comes to technology. The current era is led by innovation and the lack of innovation shows a lack of consideration for the market and the shareholders.
