Journal Article: Cote, M. & Pybus, J. (2007). Learning to Immaterial Labor 2.0: MySpace & Social Networks. Ephemera Articles, 7 (1), 88-106 Aim of the Work The article helps to highlight and understand the manner in which social networking site like MySpace has helped to create a platform through which the cultural difference which exists between the different countries can be reduced. It highlights the manner in which the development of new source of creative power which uses social networking sites helps to reduce the differences that exist between different cultures by developing a platform through which subjectivities are developed which looks towards open ended discussions and forums so solve the cultural differences. This thereby looks towards creating a platform which is different from the place where labor is involved and looks towards developing an interface which ensure cultural, media and technology interactions so that better understanding can be developed. This further goes in line with the learning as it looks towards understanding the counter cultural movements through which the different aspect of capitalism which helps to understand the cultural differences is being considered. In addition to it the article also throws light on the manner in which cultural effects have a bearing on the final result and looking towards using social networking space helps to reduce the magnitude and impact of the cultural differences. This thereby ensures that a platform is developed through which the cultural issues can be addressed and better understood. Concepts & Theories The article highlights the use of different concepts and theories which has its relevance and usage as it goes in line with the capitalism concept which stresses on culture more. The article in a similar manner shows the manner in which technology and the growth of social networking sites can be used for reducing the cultural gaps and ensuring that the required platform is developed for better interaction. The article further works on the concept where it looks towards using the social networking sites the usage of which is growing everyday. The process thereby looks towards using an informal way but looks towards achieving results which even a formal process might find difficult. The usage of open forums and platforms thereby provides an opportunity through which the cultural gaps can be reduced. This will help to understand the culture better. In addition to it the article looks towards ascertaining that the process used is Immaterial Labor 2.0 which doesn’t requires involvement of employees but instead looks towards developing a platform through which the gaps which exist between the system and deliverable objectives are reduced. This thereby ensures that the entire process helps to understand people from diverse culture. Another important concept which seems to be relevant is that is looks towards following along with capitalism it looks towards developing a new form of managerial discourse through which cultural differences can be dealt with. This has resulted in the use of social networking sites which is something new and has thereby helped to develop a platform which looks towards using new technology. The paper thereby looks towards following a new managerial discourse which extends the capitalism thought on cultural differences and looks towards ensuring instrumentality in gathering cultural differences. Strengths of the Work The article looks towards presenting the different areas and aspects which have been considered while developing a framework through which better objectives can be achieved and the cultural differences which exist between the people can be reduced. One of the major strength of the article is that looks towards dealing with a sensitive topic of cultural differences and prescribes a methodology which is new and different and will help to reduce the gap. The fact that the article proposes the use of social networking sites MySpace through which people can use the different forums and engage into open ended discussions so that the cultural differences can be removed has ensured that the required platform is developed which will help to deal with the issues of cultural difference (Lange, 2007). One of the other strength of the article is that it looks towards the use of social networking sites which are becoming popular. This will ensure that maximum people are able to use the same and ensure that there is better cultural integration which will help to shape the overall process in which information is passed (Acquisti and Gross, 2009). The article further works on the concept where it looks towards using the social networking sites the usage of which is growing everyday. The process thereby looks towards using an informal way but looks towards achieving results which even a formal process might find difficult. This will thereby ensure that better strategies to deal with the environmental factors are developed The other strength of the article is that it looks towards ensuring that the involvement of employees is minimized due to which they have developed Immaterial Labor 2.0 which looks towards ensuring minimum interference and looks towards providing a strong platform through which the differences can be solved. In addition to it the article looks towards ascertaining that the process used is Immaterial Labor 2.0 which doesn’t requires involvement of employees but instead looks towards developing a platform through which the gaps which exist between the system and deliverable objectives are reduced. This thereby ensures that the entire process helps to understand people from diverse culture (Jeff and Policastri, 2011) Weakness of the Work The article highlights the use of MySpace through which cultural differences are to be reduced but this strategy could otherwise backfire and might result in creating problems or differences as the entire process might get affected. The article looks towards dealing with a sensitive topic of cultural differences and prescribes a methodology which is new and different and will help to reduce the gap. This might instead look towards increasing complexities and might make it difficult for the entire process to fetch the same benefit (Valerie, 2009). The other weakness or challenge which can be identified is the manner in which immaterial labor 2.0 do a reversal as reversal of bio-power into bio-politics has done. This will thereby help to understand the manner in which the contribution of the social networking sites can be identified and will help to develop and identify the function based on which the differences between the cultures can be removed. This will increase the risk as being able to develop a fundamental which looks towards ensuring it is difficult. In addition to it the article looks towards ensuring that the involvement of employees is limited and they have looked at ensuring that the open ended forums looks towards reducing the gaps which exist within the system and looks at dealing with the cultural differences (Matthew, 2011). This will increase the risk as sing and relying on technology could lead towards highlighting the negative face which could make the entire process of reducing cultural differences look unclear. The article also moves away from the capitalism form of structure which looks towards removing cultural differences. It looks towards developing a new form of managerial discourse through which cultural differences can be dealt with. This has resulted in the use of social networking sites which is something new and has thereby helped to develop a platform which looks towards using new technology. This could make the entire system and process look incorrect and thereby make it difficult for the process to get the benefit through which cultural differences can be removed as it looks towards following a new form of managerial discourse. This increases the risk and makes it difficult to ensure that cultural differences are dealt in a better way. Understanding of the Concept & Culture The article goes in line with the learning as it looks towards understanding the counter cultural movements through which the different aspect of capitalism which helps to understand the cultural differences is being considered. In addition to it the article also throws light on the manner in which cultural effects have a bearing on the final result and looking towards using social networking space helps to reduce the magnitude and impact of the cultural differences. This thereby ensures that a platform is developed through which the cultural issues can be addressed and better understood. It looks towards moving slightly away from the capitalism form of structure and looks towards following a new form of discourse through which better mechanism can be developed and the cultural differences can be understood better. This has thereby ensured that the learning is strengthened and the overall structure through which better process can be developed and a process developed will help to ensure that the overall results are positive. This also helps to understand that technology still provides a space or room through which basic development and areas of importance through which cultural differences can be removed can be relied on. This will thereby help to ensure that the entire process through which cultural differences are looked at can be improved. This goes in line with the learning of capitalism which looks at developing the entire process so that cultural differences can be removed will be better understood. The article contributes towards future learning as it brings forward the underlying values which helps to ensure the development of knowledge management. The article strengthens the learning that developing a culture and having a linkage between culture and knowledge management ensures smooth transformation of ideas and makes the employee to accept the changes easily. The article has helped to improve my understanding as is helps to deal with the process of innovation in a better way. This point has been strengthened when the manner in which technology has been able to innovate and add new products and services in their list and has also further intensified the services by diversifying into non core areas.
