"Integumentary Systems and Dermatology" is a brilliant example of a paper on dermatology.
The integumentary system comprises of the hair, nails, skin, and other associated glands. This system is the most visible and diverse organ system in the human body. Some of the most prominent responsibilities of this system include regulation of body temperature, acting as an excretory organ, pain detection, and protecting the body from other injurious substances (Elaine 142). This article will focus on the health of the skin that is correlated with the integumentary system. This essay will also include information about the health of the skin.

The skin is considered as the heaviest and largest organ in the body of a human. The human skin comprises of 2 radical layers. The layers are the epidermis and dermis. The epidermis is the outermost of the three layers and is also the thinnest. It comprises of epithelial cells. The dermis is the subsequent layer of the skin after the epidermis. This layer constitutes of hair roots, sebaceous glands, and sweat glands, hence; the growth of hair takes place in this layer. The presence of blood in the dermis avails the existence of other complex structures. Dense connective tissues that are made up of collagen fibers are also contained within the dermis. This makes the skin more elastic and stronger. The hypodermis is the last layer that contains other complicated organs (Elaine 142).

After gaining knowledge about the skin and where hair originates from, one should take care of their hair to promote quality health. Hair covers almost every part of the body. However, the parts that are not covered with hair include the palms of the hand, toes, feet sole, lips, and certain parts of the genital organs. Each strand of hair is said to originate from the dermis layer. Therefore, to promote the health of one’s hair an individual should consider consuming more iron, changing the hairstyle, limiting the brushing of the hair, and eating foods rich in proteins (Guardian Media 1).

Health experts have discovered that people who consume more iron maintain the health of their hair effectively (Guardian Media 1). Iron deficiency can be noted from blood samples. If an individual lacks enough iron in the body, taking foods like organ meats, pumpkin seeds, cereals, and spinach will supplement the mineral. This prevents hair from falling out from the skin. In addition, one should change the hairstyle in order to aid in maintaining healthy hair. Most experts have ruled out the use of hair accessories since they interfere with the hair by creating tension that leads to hair thinning and loss. Such accessories include rubber bands, hairpins, and clips (Guardian Media 1).

Dermatologists around the world also note that grooming the hair through brushing damages the hair and leads to breakages. Lastly, the consumption of foods rich in proteins is vital in hair health. For hair to grow healthily, one should ensure that they consume foods containing eggs, fish, beans, and seeds (Guardian Media 1).

In conclusion, the health of the hair is quite a vital aspect for any human being. In relation to the human structure and anatomy, the skin layers and tissues play an imperative function in hair growth. As human beings, maintaining healthy hair is one of the fundamental aspects that are correlated with the integumentary system. Therefore, one ought not to overlook the healthy nature of the hair.
