Provision of health care is undoubtedly one of the most critical undertakings that any given economy has to deal with. While some economies have streamlined mechanisms of providing health care to the public, others struggle to meet the fundamentally basic health needs. This aspect differentiates developed economies from less developed or underdeveloped ones. Even with these variations, health care is both a domestic and a global issue for all societies across the globe. Health care cuts across social, economic, and political concerns for any given nation, regardless of whether it is developed or not (Ebrahim & Anken, 2008).

The poor populations face substantial challenges in accessing quality basic care. The challenge in this line is financial in nature. The affordability of health care is minimal in relation to the income level of the poor populations, especially in less developed nations. For this reason, the primary concern for these people fails to account for health care as they struggle to run their daily lives. On the same note, resource mobilization for health purposes does not extend to the people who critically need health care. As a result, health care and health concerns remain financially restrained.

On the other hand, health care coverage is relatively limited when it comes to financially challenged populations. Health insurance covers cost premiums that must be paid for continued coverage (Asada & Kephart, 2007). Unfortunately, the neediest citizens in most cases cannot afford health insurance coverage. On the same note, government-run programs that are meant to benefit the needy populations do not necessarily cater to every single person on board. As a result, the ineffectiveness of public health policies poses another critical challenge in providing health care to poor populations.

The domestic pursuit to provide health care cannot be enough measure to account for all the needy populations in the underdeveloped world (Popay, et al. 2007). In this respect, the underdeveloped nations should collaborate and work with developed nations in designing and implementing health care strategies and policies that target disadvantaged populations. On the other hand, health care insurers should design programs that are set to benefit poor people given their level of income. The link between government-private insurers is lacking in many underdeveloped countries. Its establishment can lead to the creation of programs that can essentially address primary health care concerns for needy citizens across the globe.

Nursing practices vary across the globe depending on the implemented environment within which nurses undertake their duties, roles, and responsibilities. Every individual society or nation in the world accounts for its own way of doing things in regard to the nursing practice. On the same note, nursing education significantly varies in quality, especially in developed and underdeveloped countries. However, the common denominator is that the neediest populations across the underdeveloped nations are relatively similar (Krueger, 2002). In this respect, streamlining global nursing education and practices could be a strategy that nurses can employ in addressing health care concerns at a global level.
