"Health Information Management Departmental Layout" is a worthy example of a paper on the health system. Health Information Department is entirely crucial for the roles it has in a hospital. Therefore, a complete installation of the department requires diverse investments (McCuen, 2008). The investments are in terms of furniture, equipment, amongst other supplies. These investments harmonize the operations of the department. Consequently, the department becomes highly effective through investments. Stationery is a crucial part of the equipment (McMiller, 2004). These involve staplers, files, writing materials, guillotines, a paper punch, amongst others. Furniture is also a crucial part of this department. These involve soft boards for notices, seats, desks, shelves, and lockers to store documents and files.

            Computerization is also crucial to the performance of the department (Griffin, 2012). There is a key requirement to purchase desktops, processing units, printers, scanners, internet routers, and photocopiers. These entities enhance data storage, processing and transfer within the department (Koch, 2008). Computer programs are also fundamental to the enhancement of this department. Operating systems like Windows7 are spearheads for computer operations. The department will also purchase protective programs that are anti-virus. Kaspersky anti-virus (2012 version) is an outstanding program in this case.

            The height of the shelves took 2 inches in all the offices. The following are the capacities of the shelves in the respective offices.

            Measurements for Health information Director Office: 2.1’ long, 0.1’ wide and 2’ high.

Scale: 1’= 1ft. Therefore, shelving capacity is 2.1ft * 0.1ft * 2ft= 0.42ft3

            Measurements for Analysis clerk office: 2.1’ long, 0.1’ wide and 2’ high.

            Measurements for the Abstractor office: 1.6’ long, 0.2’ wide, 2’ high.

List of Items throughout the department
Colour is a key element in this department. The required color samples would preferably be a blend of cream and white paint (Piotrowski, 2007). This would be attractive and even less conspicuous on the walls of the department. A fine woolen carpet in the offices would look elegant. It would also facilitate hygiene as the fine wool would be easy to clean. Ideal furniture for the department would entail chairs, desks, shelves, and lockers made of hardwood. The hardwood is more elegant and durable.
