Extract of sample "Comparison of U.S. and Other Healthcare System"

"Comparison of U.S. and Other Healthcare System" is a wonderful example of a paper on the health system. The healthcare system has become a subject of importance in many countries of the world. Most, the attention has been tremendous in the developed countries. As a result, each country engages in improving its healthcare to cater to the needs of the population. Moreover, the emergence of chronic diseases has led to the increased significance of improved healthcare. The increased attention has led to increased surveillance of the types of healthcare systems a country adopts. The comparison of United States healthcare with other countries has been on healthcare spending, types of healthcare visits, and management of some of the chronic diseases (Squires, 2011). On the other hand, the comparison has focused on management and focus on chronic diseases. A comparison of healthcare in the United States with other systems is of the essence of understanding the state of healthcare.

The United States health care system exhibits vast differences as compared to other developed countries in the world. Firstly, the uniqueness is derived from the types of health systems available for the people of the United States. For example, the country lacks universal health care covers even after the recent passage of legislation (Department for Professional Employees (DPE), 2013). Additionally, the health care system in the United States is a hybrid system (DPE, 2013). The system incorporates National Health Service and at the same time has a single-payer national health insurance policy (DPE, 2013).

Secondly, the spending on health care in the United States is greater than in other developed and emerging economies. The high cost of spending has been linked to the high cost of health care in the country (DPE, 2013). As a result, many people complain about challenges in accessing the necessary healthcare attention. In fact, those that earn below average in the country are less likely to visit a doctor once they get sick. The rising cost has been attributed to new technologies and prescription drugs (DPE, 2013).

However, the United States scores high in the management of chronic diseases. Most, the improvement has been on the management of cancer. For example, the use of mammograms and PAP smears has been frequent in the United States as compared to other countries such as Canada (National Bureau of Economic Research, 2014). Moreover, the machines for management and control of cancer are more in the United States as compared to other countries. For example, there are more MRI machines and CT scanners per capita in comparison to many countries (National Bureau of Economic Research, 2014). As a result, the mortality rate is slow in the country for all types of cancer apart from cervical cancer (National Bureau of Economic Research, 2014). It is clear that the country enjoys more success in the identification and management of leading chronic diseases.

In conclusion, it is clear that each country has a distinctive health care system. However, in the United States, the country spends a significant amount of resources on health care and this acts as a burden to the majority of the population. On the other hand, the country can be emulated on the steps it has taken in the management of chronic diseases.
