Family Health and Assessment Role Relationship This touches on the client’s current major roles and responsibilities such as father mother, husband or even salesperson. The composition of this client family unit includes the parents i.e. mother and father, their children, and other members in whom the client is not directly related to, the in-laws. It is a single-family home living in an upscale town, in suburban neighborhood. They own a home, which is adequate for them. The client lives with his husband and their two children. The children are almost joining college while the husband and wife are preparing for retirement. The husband is in charge of taking care of outside responsibilities such as cars while the wife is responsible for matters inside the family house. The son can be disrespectful to the mother but primarily there is respect in the family. For the children, they are involved in the chores only when requested. The wife is the breadwinner; she works as a nurse while the husband is a police officer but earns little money, however, they are able to meet their needs. The other family members live in Mississippi. Additionally, the household also hosts family which include two dogs. Value and Health Perception This pattern touches on the values, beliefs including the spiritual and goals that guide client’s choices or decision. Good examples include religious affiliation, what the client perceive as important in life, value-belief conflict related to health, and other special religious practice. Regarding the clients health perceptions, the following were considered: the client perceived pattern of health and wellbeing and how she manages health. The examples that were given consideration include, compliance with medication regimen, use of health-promotion activities such as consistent exercise and medical checkup. Basing on the client findings, she is from Anglo-Saxon heritage and her family is protestant-practicing Methodist. There is no cultural influence on their health beliefs. The family is close to the health facility and the family only observes religious customs, with no single traditional heritage ritual being observed. They consider spiritual belief as resource to the family. The minister of their church and fellow members are usually contacted in case they need spiritual help Sexuality This pattern observes satisfaction and dissatisfaction with sexuality pattern and reproductive. Examples include history of pregnancy, childbirth, the difficulty with the sexual relationship, and discussion of sexual issues with the family. With our client, the following were collected: the couples engage in sex at least twice weekly, the wife is conscious of weight influencing her sexuality negatively. The husband infidelity reduced the intimacy of the couple, but they have since been attending cancelling concerning their sexual life. The daughter is very excited because she is on the puberty stage. Self-Perception Here the client self-concept and perception is put into consideration. Good example may include the body comfort, body image, feeling state attitude about the self-perception of the abilities the objective data such as body posture, eye contact in communication. In accordance with the client, the husband does not communicate effectively concerning decision. The husband too is reduced with the financial roles in the family hence having low self-esteem. Their son is stoic while the daughter is very nurturing. The daughter is at puberty and very excited. The changes that come with puberty seem to have affected the family. The wife is not comfortable of her body weight gain. It makes her have low self-esteem and reduce the seductiveness. Activity-Exercise In this pattern the exercise is observed, the activity, the leisure. Examples include exercise, hobbies, and the daily activity of the family members. The client’s family does not smoke at all. The family members are physically active and they only engage in social drinking. Nutrition At this stage, the pattern of fluid and food is checked on. The consumption relative to metabolic need and pattern is observed. The indicator of local supply of nutrients and the body condition in relation to the nutrition is observed. This parents jointly make the nutritional decisions. From an interview, it is clear that the family is, healthy and can provide for itself adequately. Coping The general coping pattern of the family is observed and how effective they are; the stress of raising the kids and any other stress are observed. The tolerance level of stress is also observed by in the family. The good examples here is the clients usual manner of handling stress, the available support system, perceived ability to control or manage situations. In this family, there has been many stressing situation such as the infidelity of the husband, which made them go to the cancelling sessions. The husband avoids the problem and talks about it openly to solve it. The daughter is very excited about her stage of puberty. The wife is uncomfortable with her gaining the weight. The wife work through the problem and her tolerance get out when she does not make it. Family is well prepared for their retirement without, the family coping system and available institution are being used and family handles its stress in a better way. They use therapy available to handle its stress. Sensory Perception and Cognition On this pattern, the sensory perception is brought into force. The vision, the hearing ability, pain perception and management are considered. The cognition functions of the family such as language, memory and decision-making are also in check. The family has a healthy cognition function, in that, the kids at their early teenage are approaching college and their parents are professionals police and nurse. Elimination This involves the pattern of excretory function including the bowel, bladder and skin. The client perception of normal function is also interviewed. Good example is the frequency of bowel movement, the vomiting pattern is also observed. The family interviewed on this pattern is healthy and each member is autonomous in self-care. Sleep-Rest Pattern The pattern of sleeping and resting is keenly observed and interviewed. Good example can be on client’s perception and energy, sleep aids. In the family, they are healthy and they are physically fit. Wellness and Family Diagnosis 1. Readiness for healthier retirement The family is well and ready to retire without much stress that comes with retirement 2. Readiness in enhanced management of stress that come with family life The family solves problems of family early enough and prevents them to degenerate into crisis.
