Smart goals, leadership development; organizational planning Chamberlain School of Nursing NR 447 Collaborative Health care Smart goals, leadership development; organizational planning Introduction Smart goal setting refers to goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely. This is used as a guide to help organizations to better plan their development and outlook of the future. The term specifically refers to a goal that has a higher potential of being accomplished than a random goal. To set a specific goal one needs to ask several questions which are; who is involved, what to accomplish, the location identity, the time frame, needs and pressures, the specific purpose of the goal. To measure the specific goal, establish a solid criterion for gauging advancement towards the achievement of each goal. To ensure you attain the goal, identify the goals that are with the most urgency and put effort on them. For the goal to be realistic, the goal must embody an impartial towards which you are both ready and gifted to work. Perhaps the most important aspect of the goal should be timing. A goal should be drafted with an implementation period. This will ensure that there is success in the attainment of the goals that have been set. Leadership development and organization is at the core of the nursing fraternity. The smart goals, assist the leaders in the fraternity to project one of the smart leadership, goal is to inspire the workers to be more productive. The reason for choosing this goal is that the goal stretches over a period and it is attainable. Another important organizational goal is to help the fraternity achieve better organization in its services. Finding out what a person is good at and placing them to their appropriate post. This goal is important as it is achievable and it is aimed at improving the services and organization of nurses. Goal 1: Leadership Development Inspiring workers to be better is an important leadership, goal because it tries to show the workers that leaders can be relied on to do things. They are not stationed there as figures, but can actually work. This goal will help in motivating the workers to do their best. Peer review According to Sherman and Elizabeth (2010), the creation of a healthy work environment involves a strong nursing leadership. This will help the workers to be more efficient and productive at all levels. The importance of the smart goal setting is expressed in this journal that has insights about the qualities of leadership and how to develop a smart goal. The workers will have no problem following the examples that have been set by their leaders during the implementation of the goal. The period for the implementation is continuing as this goal keeps on changing as times and technology changes. To act as an inspiration to the workers one needs to be dedicated and have a plan that does not necessarily distract the normal running of the institution. Everyone has unique talents and abilities; it is up to the leader to come up with a proper organizational goal to archive success in the fraternity.
