"Stop the Disruption of Anxiety by Kathryn Murphy" is an outstanding example of a paper on the disorder.
In this article, the author mainly discusses the general concept of anxiety disorder. It reveals the number of people who are affected by this condition in America. According to the author, due to the high prevalence of the condition, it is common to find an individual taking care of one or more people suffering from the condition. It includes the workplace setup. Thus, the main aim of the article is to explore the various aspects related to anxiety disorders. This will help people to take care of patients in a better way.

The causes of anxiety disorders have chiefly been stated as financial worries and the lack of job security. However, it has been revealed that anxiety disorder is a normal part of life as it encompasses the mechanism through which the body adapts to various stressors. Despite this, anxiety can make individuals maladaptive and interrupt the daily activities of living it not properly handled (Ressler & Nemeroff, 2000).

There are a number of ways to identify anxiety. They include increased heart rate, BP, and respiration as well as restlessness and diaphoresis. People seek medical services due to these manifestations and many more. Two major types of anxiety are stated. They include the normal and abnormal anxieties that are influenced by the extension of the anxiety after the danger has been removed. In this case, it is also shown that there is a different prevalence of anxiety depending on age and ethnicity (Murphy, 2010).

One of the items that have been highlighted in the article includes the key points about the pathophysiology of anxiety. This is principally related to the mind-body connections. It is highly linked to the genetic component of the individual. It results from one person being over sensitive to stress hence has more experiences of stress. It is this sensitivity that may lead to anxiety. It may also result from biological vulnerability hence be present in the family history. Another cause of anxiety disorder as is indicated in the text is an imbalance in the chemical components in the brain. They are the neurotransmitters that are involved in the smooth transmissions of electrochemical impulses within the neurotransmitters. Some of the neurotransmitters involved include norepinephrine and serotonin (Ressler & Nemeroff, 2000). Thus, anxiety disorders occur when an individual cannot secrete enough serotonin which leads to an increase in anxious feelings. Thus it results in three major types of anxiety disorders. These are the generalized, posttraumatic, phobic and obsessive-compulsive disorders.

It is contended that there are other types of management medical and nursing practices which are centred on the patient. The author lists some of these as treatment and therapy. They include the use of medications such as Benzodiazepines or antidepressants and the use of psychotherapy or talk therapy.

The information can thus be applied in nursing through their application in identifying patients suffering from anxiety disorders. Besides identification, it may also assist in management as nurses can find out ways to eliminate the danger that is leading to anxiety. Moreover, it is possible to identify cultures and ethnic groups where anxiety is likely to be high and to know the different ways of dealing with anxiety among people from different groups. It helps in the consideration of cultural differences when assessing and diagnosis anxiety.
