Health Sciences and Medicine Insert Insert I made a choice for this topic because of the dangers it poses to the young adults while sport or in their daily exercises. Concussion and sports are an element that goes hand in hand, and if not attended to within the early stages, it may lead to severe brain damages to an individual. Sport is an important activity for youth and adults because it strengthens and enhances the strength of bones (Andrews & Yaeger, 2013). I found out that concussion in sport has a factor handled for a long time. Many associations have joined hands to deal with a concussion. The first conference that was held in Vienna was meant to perform a detailed research to establish evidence that pertain the concussion problem. The other conference that followed took place in Prague. In this second meeting, members gave a new definition and description of how they can take back the affected athletes to their activities. The conference outlined two types of the concussions. There is a concussion that can be resolved within seven to ten days of injury and they gave it a term “simple concussion”. The condition that has portrays a persistent symptoms was termed as “complex concussion”. The complexity of the situation is usually described as to be a post-concussion syndrome (Webbe, 2011). The safety of an athlete and others that are associated with it is high-risk activities, from the emphasis on the Prague conference team, pointed out that the first condition has to be treated. The moment it propagates and meats with the second concussion, it becomes a serious risk. The development of computerized neuropsychological tests through research has aided the general administering of tests to determine baseline cognitive performance of an athlete before participating in any event. The test performed after the concussion, are achieve a better understanding of the participant to get an actual performance against the stated baseline. There is the pulling down factor for these neuropsychological events because it provides insufficient information on the readiness of an individual to assume back its normal sporting activities. The scientists suggest using of these tests should be done with great caution (Webbe, 2011). In some sporting-related concussions, the reports found out that studies can improve and provide meaningful information yet result remain unknown. In youth, how to diagnosis, manage, and prevent concussion and recurring head impacts as well do not result in concussion signs. No reliable information is found in the overall incidences of sport-related concussion in young adults. To control and fill the data gap, the committee called for the centers that control and prevent such occurrences to do a national study, which establishes accurately the incidences that causes the problem. The method that data should be collected depends on the range of factors that are related to the participant’s actions. They may include the demographic information, history of the concussion, and the frequency of use of the protective equipment (Webbe, 2011). Basing on the reports section in understanding diagnosis, recovery and health effects, and the study indicated that a series of tiny and functional changes take place in the brain because of the injury. The study that deals with long term effects of the repetitive head impacts and many concussions brought on board mixed results. Memory loss and changes in the brain psychology are the most common while the others do not experience the same. To control these occurrences, the medical committee should conduct longitudinal, controlled and large-scale studies to assess this long-term and short-term concussions consequences. Among the precaution that needs to be done to reduce or end the problem, is by improving safety standards and equipment design in all sporting areas (Webbe, 2011). The culture of sports and other physical exercise needs to be changed. For instance in athletics, if an individual reports any symptom related to concussion, the stakeholders such as coaches and the teammates should be taken up with seriousness it deserves. In military, recruits are engulfed by the culture that includes devotion to duties and service, and any concussion occurrence may go unattended. If the sports community will come to a consensus and adopt the fact that a concussion can lead to severe injuries, the culture and environment in which the athlete and other participants operate in will become a safe place (Andrews & Yeager, 2013). There are common symptoms that are associated with sport related dysfunctions. They are; Blurred vision Desirability, Dizziness, Headache, Inappropriate emotions, Irritability Memory problems and Change in personality. Instances and causes that lead to the sport related problem have been focused in the report. Among through; Causing a direct blow to the head or any other parts of the body that coordinate directly with the brain To cause an immediate and short-lived alteration in neurologic function To act that causes the change of the neuropathology but does reflect typically on a functional disturbance rather than a structural injury. Diagnostic imaging in the management of the sport-related concussion is the primary action to rule in the finding out of structural damage. The injuries that typically undergo this type of diagnosis are the intracranial hemorrhage. The condition accumulates slowly as seen on a CT or the MRI, because of this, it may not reveal positive results; doctors have to be very cautious about it (Webbe, 2011). In conclusion, the report has demonstrated and presented some facts that show how a concussion can lead to grave consequences if not handled at the initial stages. Young adults are the future of every nation, and if they are not catered in a proper perspective, they will lose focus and become unproductive to the society. The efforts that the associations and committees have put are appreciated because they provide the topic with current research that is essential to every sports participant. The youth and the young adults will gain better understanding of the causes and the effects and how to prevent occurrences that may lead to serious results. From this study, youth will gain confidence and the privilege of participating in spots because they know that in case of head injury, there is a body that is there to deal with the situation (Andrews & Yeager, 2013).
