Motivation Statement I have always believed that a person’s professional career should be something that they fully believe in; it should not merely be something we are good at. I believe in innovation through synthesis of advanced hardware and software. The beauty of integrating various lines of codes and logics with the right combination of circuit boards and mechanics, for me, is the ultimate truth; the ultimate truth towards a better and smarter world. I want my research to matter, and I want to design products which can change the way a particular world works. I want my products to be seen tomorrow, optimizing supply chains, helping blind people learn, predicting the best line of action for strategic managers and incorporate customer feedback. Obviously having a career which is financially successful is important for me and the world of hardware and software engineer is definitely a booming industry. It would be a dream come true for me to work my way through into the product design department of Apple. For me, technology is not just about being faster and flashier, it is about actually making the world a better place, and this is what I want to do. I want to incorporate technology back home, as well as in my country to make sure that it is a better place. Intelligent machines and software, which provide efficiency, productivity, intelligence and flexibility can do great wonders for the world. Product Design, for me, is not just about better technology. I believe that this field can be about changing the world and how it works. I want to make a difference and innovate. I want to develop products with vision and things that matter in the real world, products that make lives better and brings light to the dark. Technology is a beautiful thing and I believe in it with all my heart. For me, there is no better thing to do but to work on bringing better technology to the table. Having work which does not seem like another 9 to 5 task is my dream, and working towards product design is exactly that. This is why I have chosen this as my career. My SWOT Analysis for my Continuing Professional Development Strength: Passion: I am passionate about the things I believe in, whether it is about bringing good to the society or a simple matter of loving what I do. For me, innovation is half about what is takes to be passionate. Unless you are passionate, you cannot innovate. Commitment: When I make a commitment, I make sure I fulfill it. It is the way my biology works and I cannot sleep without making sure I fulfilled the ends of my commitments. Team: I am a big team player and love to bring a human touch to an overall task for a better quality of job. Weakness: Communication: I need to work on my communication skills when in an international environment. Since English is not my first language, I am a little weak in the way I communicate to people. This results, sometimes, in an environment where communicating something takes longer than usual, and tends to be a little more difficult. Trust Issues: I tend to trust people too much at times and seem to think they might not have a motive to lie. In real life, I have been proven wrong, time and time again. I have been repeatedly shown that my blind trust in human beings often becomes my weakness. Opportunity: International Exposure: The fact that I am abroad and away from my nation, I have been provided with an array of options that other people in my country do not have. I have the opportunity to work in research departments for innovative companies and learn how they operate. This will train me and prepare me for something bigger in my own country when time allows me the chance. Entrepreneurship: There are a lot of opportunities in my own home county to develop an enterprise and sell innovation. There are industries that needs products that automate their processes and make them smarter and more intelligent at a cheaper price. Threat: Financial: My own financial position and backing might cause threats to my dreams. Sometime down the line I might not have the luxury to live my dream and work on something that I love. Political Crisis: I see the external threat of political instability around the world and the increasing distrust between different cultures as a threat to technology and its mobilization. For globalization to bring about the best results for everyone in terms of technology, there needs to be an environment of trust between countries. There also needs to be no racial profiling and discrimination against anyone. The current political instability sometimes appears to me as a threat to international development. Continuing Personal Development Communication: I want to counter this weakness by proactively working on my communication skills. I have been reading literature and have been wishing to read more about the small details that I should learn about an alien culture. This means that I want to be more intelligent in terms of culture and the various and different ways of communication. I want to focus specifically on my eye contact and gestures, otherwise I might not appear as being confident enough. If I want to be successful in a product development department, I need to be able to communicate my ideas clearly and in a straightforward, understandable manner. This is why I want to look up to the people who are good leaders. It is important for me to be communicative in a way that other people can understand my vision. This communication of vision requires me to constantly read about products and what they mean. I also want to take a few training programs where I can learn different techniques of making my ideas communicate better. Read More
