One of the benefits of using social networking sites for recruitment is that the sites poetry the real personality of the applicant. From the class debate, it was evident that people are likely to portray their talents and areas of interest. Therefore, the managers can use the sites to identify the candidates with the appropriate qualities. This can help to hire managers to shortlist the appropriate candidates. Moreover, the company can attract the right candidates without overspending. Another advantage of using social networks for hiring is that it helps companies reach a higher number of candidates. This increases the chances of attracting the appropriate candidates.

From the class discussion, it was evident that most people are enrolled in more than one social network. Moreover, most people use social networks to learn about different issues as compared to other types of media. Therefore, companies that are able to connect with people through social networks are likely to interact with many qualified candidates, who cannot be reached through other sources. There are some disadvantages to using social networks as recruitment sources. From the class discussion, it was clear that most people use social networks for fun and connection purposes only.

For example, people who use Facebook are likely to post less serious things about themselves. Therefore, some social networking sites could be deceiving and lead to the recruitment of non-qualified candidates. Q2: everybody will access your info, is it ok or not, and why?  Q3: how it can help companies by accessing your social network life?  Q4: I am against using social networking sites for recruitment, why?
