"Innovation in Health Care" is a great example of a paper on care. Quality improvement in nursing is necessary to ensure the application of different management and leadership skills in the field to ensure the delivery of quality services to their clients. Making quality improvement involves the institutionalization of a new practice to replace or back up the old ones. The first step in ensuring quality improvement by nurses is recognition of a challenge. The gap between actual achievement and the desired achievement is determined. For instance, the percentage of couples following family planning is 20% whereas health departments require at least 50% of people following the practice. The next stage that is taken by the nurse is the identification of promising practices. This is done to ensure the improvement of services which shows the promise of success and transferability.

Promising practices usually deal with issues that show relevance to the identified challenge. They also have distinct met programs in other settings. In addition, promising practices have led to measurable or observable improvements in services. Most nurses identify promising practices for facing challenges that are meant to improve the quality of services to the clients (Green, 2002). This is done through observations for interventions or practices that have enabled other people to address similar practices or challenges in a successful manner. For instance, nurses may not be able to handle professionally patients with mental related issues. In such cases, nurses will employ a practice that worked successfully for other healthcare, which was faced with the same situation. The search is extended by a broader geographic area to ensure that the best knowledge or information is received. The evidence of the success of the researched evidence is shared among the staff members and other stakeholders. From the interventions, nurses usually choose one that matches their priority challenge, as well as the organization’s mission, needs, and resources.

The next stage that nurse leaders take is adapting the nursing practice to the work environment for the appropriate application. In this stage, the nurse leaders ensure that the organizational culture becomes the fundamental factor that is considered. A comparison with the original practice is done in order to identify the improvements or changes that have been made to the original intervention. Similarities and differences are analyzed to come between the two settings by a group of change teams (Green, 2002). Nurses are charged with the responsibility of drawing the elements of culture that can support permanent changes. Working with other team members in ensuring whether the practice functions with certain circumstances or constraints is also done by the nurses to speculate the future challenges that the system will bring to healthcare.

The next stage that nurse leaders do is the implementation of the practice. Implementation involves widening the use of the practice from a single clinic to multiple or several clinics and hospitals. Nurse leaders ensure that during implementation, there is the creation of interest, commitment, and curiosity of the practice. This is done particularly to those nurses who will be dealing with or applying the practice regularly in their nursing career or practice (Green, 2002). The fifth stage involves dealing with reactions from people, where nurse leaders analyze the reactions of different people regarding the practice and use them to improve further the quality of their services.
