"Innovative Nursing Care Delivery Model" is a great example of a paper on care. The healthcare industry is rapidly changing. This has necessitated the creation of innovative nursing care delivery models that try to meet the changing needs of nursing care. Some of the driving forces which have been identified to cause innovation in nursing care are the rising costs of health care providers and increase in health insurance premiums which have greatly increased the number of semi-insured and uninsured persons (Sullivan-Marx 2010). . Moreover, there have been a large number of patients needed to be attended to in the emergency room and there has been a rise in the number of community dispensaries. The wave of consumerism has also driven the development of different nursing care models. Different models that try to deal with these challenges have been proposed. A common model is the patient-centered medical home. This model allows for the provision of an integrated health care service that involves a partnership between the patients, the personal doctors, and their families. Other models have put emphasis on the role of nurses and non-physician professionals in the delivery of quality care (Yoder-Wise 2014).  This paper looks into details of the innovative nursing care model.

In order to understand how innovative nursing care delivery models have transformed nursing care delivery. It is important to point out the similarities in these models. Among the 24 models that have been developed, they have certain features in common. One of the features is the elevation of the role of nurses. The models identify the nurse as an integrator. The nurse is upgraded from the traditional job of just being a caregiver to an integrator. Another common feature is the team approach ( Roussel 2013). There is a promotion of an interdisciplinary approach in order to give comprehensive care. The model also promotes the continuum of the provision of health care. The models seek to sponsor the provision of health care services to the patients after leaving the nursing care home. In addition, health care models have pushed the traditional boundaries of offering healthcare. According to most of these health care models, the home is identified as a primary location for offering health care (Sullivan-Marx 2010). This is unlike previously where health care could only be given at a health facility. Another crucial feature is the target of the healthcare model. Most of these models target people who are heavy users of health care mainly the elderly. The model also shows a shift towards the offering of patient-centered services. The patients and their families are actively involved in the delivery and planning of health care. The patient’s needs are given priority.

The use of modern technology in health care is another key characteristic of innovative models. New technology has been incorporated into the model as a way of improving efficiency. All the models are also driven by results, increased satisfaction, quality, and reduced costs (Yoder-Wise 2014). It has been noted that although the different models were created as a way of dealing with a specific problem, they all meet the characteristics mentioned.

These models seek to improve the efficiency of the delivery of health care. Although it is not possible to have a complete overhaul of the traditional care model, nurses and other health care providers are advised to adopt practices that improve the quality and cost of health care. Some of the existing models should be adopted while others can be used to generate ideas for the creation of better models thus improving nursing health care delivery to meet the emerging needs.
